Trichomes

Close up of my plant's trichomes. I've read somewhere if they turn amber it is near ready. These are mine. Not sure how long it has been in the ground, I literally just a tossed a seed in and forgot. Taken with my cell phone.

Hopefully with your cellphone's magnification, you'll be able to see when the trichs turn cloudy and then amber
Mostly cloudy with 5 to 10 percent amber is a rough measure of done although people have a wide preference as far as that goes

Looks like they're just getting cloudy, so no hurry yet. As guru @InTheShed says, wait until you see a little amber on the calyxes, then the plant has a good coverage of trichome ripeness.

just remember,, science says, a la ed resenthals science,, as soon as the trichome starts to turn cloudy, it is degrading into a less psychoactive compound. and turning amber has major degradation.

the trichome is at its peak thc power just before turning cloudy.

that is science. you decide when is best.

folks think leaving a bit longer cuz it will bulk up some,, well, perhaps so but at what cost??

thc effectiveness is what cost.

Amber can be good if you're a couch-lock fan, or looking for something to help with sleep. But I look at the buds (calyxes) rather than the sugar leaves when checking for ripeness.
