Trichrome colors changing after harvest

I have some plants with trichomes that have continued to change color well after they were chopped. Some of them are about 95 percent amber. These same plants had about 50 percent amber trichomes on the day of harvest. Since this is the case I don't understand why it is important to harvest with a certain percent of amber trichomes if they are going to end up being mostly amber anyway?

I think there is more to mature weed than just amber trichomes. The calyxes get larger and as they do more cannabinoids develop. You end up with a little more weight, flavor and smell. That being said—I don’t harvest based on trichomes. I harvest based on the appearance of the bud.

I would really appreciate if you could elaborate on the appearance of the bud?

The calyxes swell so you can see each one sticking out like popped pop corn. The pistils die back and appear to be engulfed by the calyxes. The last picture shows the calyxes sticking out from distance. You can clearly see them all swollen from 8–10 feet. I’m not saying all these are ready to everyone’s preference—Some people like brown dead trichomes cuz they like to get stoned—I like to get high..translucent amber and milky white for me.

What is your drying room/tent environment? 95% TRANSLUCENT amber is what I get from a true MALAWI cob style cure. Long cool slo dry I’m preserving the milky. 95% brown trichs would be narcotic sleep medicine imo
