Using fresh bud over ashes in bong?

Is there any benefit to this? kind of a random question but I was wondering how you guys felt. Sometimes I like to have a bed of old ashes in my bong bowl, then fresh stuff, then oil overtop.



Also this age old question: Does taking harder and longer rips equal a better high? I find it does. But is this just a placebo?

I think the ashes would hold back some of the resin that cooks out of the bud. They say it's not good to smoke that resin. I'm not saying I never smoked it, but the carbon in other can't be good to burn and inhale.

I have found that I get way more buzzed with bigger hits, like from a bong. I am partial to bongs, well, and joints, pipes, vapes. Lol!
