Laramie, - A traffic stop on Interstate 80 netted 76 pounds of high-grade marijuana with an estimated value of $450,000, according to police.

Jonathan Anthony Kim, 24, of Englewood, Colo., was arrested.

Kim was eastbound when a Highway Patrol trooper pulled him over for tailgating about eight miles west of Laramie. The trooper allegedly could smell marijuana in the car and found two large cardboard boxes of marijuana in the trunk.

The marijuana was "BC bud," so called because it is grown indoors in British Columbia, according to Lt. Carl McDonald.

Kim was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Bond was set at $40,000.

Investigators believe the drugs were bound for the Englewood area. It was the fourth time in two months that troopers had seized a large shipment of BC bud in Wyoming.

"It's starting to catch on because of its strength," McDonald said. "We've been seeing it for at least five years, but the seizures we're having increase every year."

He said more drug dealers are using I-80 because of heightened drug enforcement farther south in states like Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona.
