Early Miss Auto & Crossbreeding Experiment: Sour Diesel x Master Kush

Hey guys. This is my first post here, I'm a long time lurker and fairly new closet-grown hobbyist. This is my second grow, and first time experimenting with crossbreeding. Some details about my setup:

Lighting: 6x CFL bulbs plus a t5
Medium: Early miss will be grown in a hydro recirculating bubble bucket. The SD and MK will be grown in coco coir and perlite mix.
Nutrients: GH three part nutrient system and CMplus
Seeds: White Label master kush, Crop King sour diesel and early miss (all feminized)

The entire grow will be grown at 12/12 light cycle. This will allow the autoflower to grow normally while flowering the cross strains right from seed, to produce a few seeds in my cross experiment as quickly as possible. The sour diesel will be treated with colloidal silver to force male characteristics from my feminized seeds

Day 1: Early miss sprouted! The other two seeds are germinating in paper towel. I expect another day or two before they show tap root.

Day 3:
Early Miss has sprouted up about an inch. Sour diesel and master kush have germinated and been placed in solo cups filled with coco.

The hydro reservoir has been PH'd and has air circulating from two air stones, as soon as green leaves pop out ill put early miss in there

the master kush and sour sprouted up last night!

early miss got stuck in her shell so i had to help her stand up a bit.

I decided to keep them on 18/6 lights for a week or two until they're strong enough to support themselves a bit better.

Not much action in these young girls yet, heres some bud porn from my last run of the master kush in the mean time :yummy:

Unfortunately the two seedlings in coco coir died :( I think they stretched overnight past the cup rim exposing them to the fan, which was too strong and bent the stems over. I tried to recover them to no avail. Due to time limitations for this project, I dont think I have time to start again from seed. This project will be postponed.

On the bright side, early miss is growing slowly but surely. She seems to be responding well to her first dose of nutrients, and without the other two plants, she'll be getting a full 18 hours of light until harvest.

I fed her .15ml/L of equal parts GH grow/micro/bloom with CMplus cal mag. I'll likely cut back on the nitrogen in my GH mix in the next feeding since my cal mag has some also.

I have my T5 about 6" from the top of the plant already, if she handles her nutes well i'll turn on the rest of the CFLs too in a couple days :thumb:

The PH has been sliding all over the place, which I think caused a manganese lockout. I flushed the bucket and have been extra careful when collecting PH test samples, and the new growth at the top seems to be coming in properly. Seems like hydro plants can get all burnt in the blink of an eye... ;)

Due to the stunted growth, I won't be topping this auto before flowering.

The roots finally got long enough to reach the top of the water about 4 days ago and the growth has exploded since then.

It seems to be showing symptoms of nitrogen toxicity, I'll have to change the bucket tomorrow morning as I can't run my noisy pump late at night. This plant seems to like a very gentle amount of nutrients, my next nutrient batch will have seedling dosages of floragro, florabloom, and CMplus, without using any floramicro.

A week ago the roots had not yet left the net pot, and today the longest roots are over 30cm in length. The growth rate is picking up substantially. This plant had a bit of a slow start, but I'm quite optimistic about how it will turn out.

Happy Monday and good vibes all around!

A couple weeks into flower now, a very short plant but the buds look like they'll be tightly packed. Did a little LST on her too.

A little burnt from calcium and nitrogen, so for this feeding I only gave her potassium and phosphorous.

Look at those roots!

For stealth and portability reasons, I had to replant during flowering. On the bright side, she's got much more power right up close to the bud sites.

Hydroponics in a portable 3 gallon tank! Who knows if it will work. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hope all is well in your world.

How did this grow turn out?

We would love to be updated with some pictures and info.

How about posting a 420 Strain Review?

If you need any help with posting photos, please read our Photo Gallery Tutorial.

I am moving this to Abandoned Journals until we get updates.

Sending you lots of love and positive energy.
