Ice Cream Cake SCRoG

After a fairly hot summer I’m back!

after a very successful last journal with strawberry amnesia, I’m going to be doing another one, but doing Ice cream cake from clones. I’ve Never done the strain before so looking for any tips and guidance to growing an indica dominant strain as opposed to a sativa dominant.

My setup will be almost identical to the last journal with a few minor tweaks.

I have 2 tents running off one extractor fan with passive intake.

2x 1.2x1.2 loft tents
4x 600w digital hps dual spectrum (2 in each)
10”rvk , Y splitter and reducer to 2x 6” carbon filters, with smscom hybrid fan controller.
4 25l auto pots in each.
16” pedestal fan

I think I’ll add air domes to the autopots this time and see how much that changes the oxygen uptake.

what kind of veg time and flower time would be advised/suggested?
Clones are rooting out and will all go in the next couple of weeks I hope.

Hi 420. It’s been a while.

I’m coming to the end of week 3 flowering with the Ice Cream Cake and it’s been really difficult. After growing amnesia strains year after year this has been a total learning curb all over again.

Ice cream cake is an indica dominant strain. It seemed like it took forever to veg but since it’s been on 12/12 they have literally trebled in size and overcrowded in the grow space. They are already getting the purple hues come through with my temps at 24°c/18°c on/off.

I have been using mammoth P since flowering switching it from great white mycorrhizae in veg.

Is defoliation recommended this late on or is that a stress factor for hermies?

Hello @Stoneisland hope your having a good day.
Fantastic looking garden.
But are they always that droopy or is that because the lights are out?
You can defol at week 3 if you like without any ill effects.
Since your in scrog cleaning out underneath where there isn't any light is common practice.
The larf will just suck energy from her and can be eliminated. :Namaste:
Stay safe.
Bill

Hey bill, I’m well mate thanks. The lights are off they’re not droopy when on. Guess they’re sleeping :laughtwo: With previous grows I always clear out undergrowth when I switch to 12/12, As I did with this one. However these have stretched like a mofo! And another clear out is needed, but I’ve never defoliated this late on and don’t know if it causes too much stress?.. but I’ll take your advise onboard and give them a good trim!

just remember they aren't going to grow any more new leaves from this point forward. what ever you are left with has to get them through to the end.

i actively defoliate all through veg and once at the 2-3 wk mark in flower.

Note to all. Growing 4 Ice Cream Cake plants, vegging in a 4x4 for 5 weeks from clones is too long!

Well fuck! I got an ice cream cake 5 weeks from seed with 2 blueberries at 2 weeks in a 2x4x7‍. This is my first grow in years and my first time running indicas as well, so I definitely understand how you feel it’s been one hell of a learning curve for me too lol.
