Outdoor Growers

Most likely it is a lack of nutrients. Larger the plant the more nutrients needed :). Once it starts going into flower it needs even more. Back to "....Pick up the pace on the fertilizing. Look at the added minor expense as an investment that will pay off in another 8 weeks or so."

The plant will make it through to the end with the limited amount of fertilizer you are using but the harvest will be less than what the plant is able to produce and probably will not have the quality that it is able to produce. It is worth the expense invovled in doubling the amount of fertilizer you are using.

From my earlier msg: "Bump up your "Dyna Grow Bloom" dosage to the .5 teaspoon amount. From what I have seen the instructions recommend using the Bloom every time the plant is watered. It is not the usual water-fertilize-water-fertilize method that we see for many other fertilizing schedules."

The 1/2 teaspoon amount is good enough for the vegetating stage but now that the flowering has started it is time for more. And, the manufacturer says to use it every watering so if you water more than once a week but only fertilize once a week your plant is slowly falling behind.
Thank you. It is good to have confirmation from those with more experience.
From Dyna-Gro:
  • For outdoor applications in soil, feed 1 – 2 tsp/gal with every watering.

Well, I don't seem to be remedying the problem with nutrients over the last week.

Next is the same GDP strain, except it is in the ground instead of a 10 gal Geopot:

The one in the ground is healthy correct?
Just the one in the pot has issues?
Did you try flushing the pot 3x plain water and feed again?
Just a thought.
Hope your doing well Mike.

Thanks, Bill. Never had to flush a plant before for such a problem. The sun is blasting that area. Perhaps that is part of the problem.

Both get equal sun correct?
Has to be the pot.
Root bound maby?

10 gallon pot does get blasted by sun 8+ hours a day. I would think sun stress would show on exterior leaves, not so much center of plant. I am at work so it will get blasted today at 95 degrees 😐 I did check soil and it was still moist from yesterday. I am going to move it today when I get home from work and see if it helps.

Wrap a towel around the pot and spray it with the hose.
It'll keep her cool and let her absorb nutrients before they evaporate.
I show it in my Heavens Shores thread.

Thanks Bill. I'm going to try that. I am going to move it though. The sun will be screened better from other bushes around the area. I am soaked with sweat from loading a truck in the sun. I know how that plant must feel today.

Well, I don't seem to be remedying the problem with nutrients over the last week.
Most problems will take 2 weeks or longer to correct. Contrary to popular thinking by many growers these plant and growing problems do not show up overnight. They can take just as long or longer to go away.

Even after 3 weeks the area that was damaged remains but we can call it a win if what we have done stops the problem from getting worse. Being a few weeks into flowering even slowing it down might be enough to claim a minor victory.

I moved it where the sun filters better. Pot was light. Gave a good watering in early evening and will feed this morning before going to work. It was 100 degrees yesterday.

I clipped about 10 fan leaves off that were yellow and dying at the tips. The remainder look green and healthy. I'll post a pic as soon as I can. She seems better with filtered sun. Reading about the Grandaddy Purple strain, I saw it is prefers filtered sunlight. I made a good location choice for one in ground. I wish I saw this info about sunlight before starting this strain. Accidently splashing leaves on the potted one with nutrient water likely didn't help either. Should have rinsed it off immediately when that happened.

Here's my other GDP in the ground:

Kind of spindly. Started flowering last week.
I love those big fat fan leaves. :yahoo:
She is gorgeous.
Hope your having a good weekend Mike. :ciao:

Thanks, Bill 🙂 With some practice, I may be able to grow some plants like yours.
Your doing great as far as I can see.
Not a dam thing wrong with those ladies. :bravo:

Im not in your location but am privy to outdoor grows in many “zones”. I grow in one of the most difficult climates IMO due to weather swings, excessive heat, lack of rain, and many pests.
I’ve grown indoor for the past 10 years and due to the “seasons”, I chose to trial outdoor in the spring to fall time.

I had to do my research and due diligence in the outdoor word… so Ive had trials and now have become fairly knowledgeable, IMO
I even started with unknown genetics and played the “pheno hunt” game lol

Holler my way with any questions brother
Much love
