The Answer's Hydro Revelations

Lookin' good. I need to make a cloner. You say they pop roots in there in about a week? When and how do you like to put them into rockwool cubes?

Great stuff.

I am in the process of trying to scrape together a DIY easy clone. I have most of what I need, but all my pumps have the wrong types of fittings. Does the Hydrofarm one mate right to 1/2" pvc or do you do some kind of an adapter?

TIA.

Thats cool lookin!:welldone:

Thank you sir!!

Looking good my man. When they pop roots in your stink unit you got to show us some root porn.

Will do!!

Thanks Green! I just grow them out in the 2 inch netcups, you just transfer the the plant with netcup, right into the flower setup. You could easily transfer them into rockwool as long as you don't let the roots grow through the netcup. I think most people just slice open the rockwool cube and place the roots into it, then close it back up.

Thanks Rose!!

Thanks for stopping in Papa!! One of the fittings supplied with the hydrofarm pump was close. I used some electrical tape and wrapped it around the fitting until the 1/2 pvc fit on it snugly. It has worked great, with zero problems. Let me know if you have any more questions, when you start to build it.

Just was popping in to check on things.... nice looking clones Answer!! And cloner.... but of course. lol :goodjob:

Thanks brother!!

Great looking clones man, Hope you keep that 100% success rate

Thanks, me too!!

Just read from beginning to end. Love it. I especially admire the use of various growing technologies. From aero to deep water culture and then to the glamorous stinkbud setup.

I was wondering if you had any problems with humidity in your cloner, being that it doesn't appear to have any hood. Most often clones will droop when exposed to open air.
On a side note, does anyone know why clones would curl upward within five minutes of removing the clone dome?
I'm usually a passive reader on this forum, and I had to post on your thread and just congratulate you on this awesome grow. I also like the fact that yours is perpetual as it generally yields more annually then a non perpetual. Good luck on your new strains of kush and we'll be watchin from the sidelines.

Thank you very much and welcome to 420!! I do not use a hood or dome, as it is unnecessary, when using an aero cloner. I know when doing clones in soil, they require more moisture, but in aero the sprayers give the plants all the moisture needed. I have had a 100% success rate, with 45+ clones and I use no rooting gels or powders. I just cut the clone, trim it, and stick it in the cloner. Couldn't be any easier!! As for your leaves curling up, are they "canoeing" or just pointing up. Might be from a combo of moisture loss and heat if the lights are close.

The leaves begin to curl upwards and "canoe" as you say. not only fold from tip in, but from edges in as well. I even noticed this on clones that were rooted. I use a humid dome, but i may just have to build myself a ez cloner. As those units are the most expensive and simple to make. Unfortunately I'm not as close to the beach as i'd like and the relative humidity is very low, but I think this would still work. On another note... Hypothetically could you veg those clones to 10" in that cloner? Or would the roots run into too many problems?

Sorry don't want to steal attention from your awesome grow. + reps
I veg under 4ft t5 system, i doubt heat is affecting them. Thanks for the help and I got my eye on your technique. Seems to be clean and efficient.

Yes I have successfully vegged to 12 inches in the cloner and then transferred them to the flower setup. I usually mist my clones and vegging plants daily, with PH balanced water to keep the humidity up. Usually leaf up curl is a sign of heat and moisture stress. Feel free to post some pics up and I'll take a look. Don't worry bro I am here to help, keep the questions coming!

Howdy Answer,Just had these guys for a couple of wks ( got them at the candy store) they seem a little spindly ,there in the sh res with 400 ppm of AN sensi grow, temps are 70s water temp is 60s they just don't look all that great, What do you think ? Thanks Answer, you've got an eye for this, sometimes I feel blind !

Man that is a hard one to tell there! I wanted to say overnuted at first, but I'm not sure that is burn on the leaf tips(but it might be). Has the PH been stable? You should post this on the Deep Water Culture home too, see what everyone else thinks. Do they all look like that?

Garden update: Clones are still looking good(not droopy) and a couple have some bumps starting to show. That means it won't be long and roots will start popping! I did some LST on the Killing Kush last night and snapped some photos of the process.

I use twine and duct tape to tie my woman up!!

Here you can see it only took 12 hours for it to straighten back up.

I decided to go ahead and move the two mother plants to the flower room, because I have read that you shouldn't veg sativa dominant plants as long as Indica. I gave the Killing Kush a reservoir change and upped her to 700 PPM. I went ahead and moved the KK into the flower room and will move the Killing Field tommorow after res change(ran out of water!).

Soon that aero system will be slam full of clones!!

Killing Field mom and the veg room. Still got a wonder woman and a KF runt in the bubbletub. They are coming along!

This is one bushy Sativa!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so that is how you do it. Now if I understand this you do it so they have more room from the main stem to get light?

My other question is why not use a scrog screen to separate them instead of doing it your way if I got it right? What are the positives and negatives of the two ways?

That is right my lady friend!! The objective is to even up the canopy for maximum light exposure. I have never considered a scrog, because my grow room is so big and I like to periodically rotate the plants around.

+ reps to ya' Answer.. just wanted to stop in to get a look at the recent pics and I must say everything looks incredible. That one shot of the little clones (Killing Fields and mom)... BEAUTIFUL!
