Trichomes: Theory To Practice Using A Microscope, Help Needed Please

Hey @Elvin ... how are things with you these days?

I got really frustrated at my autoflowers the other day ... and how all the harvest dates are scattered.

I am going to shoot for an average date ... October 09, 2019 ... to harvest all the plants. Doing it that way, I am hoping to free up a tent so I can do the two or tree days of darkness for bud ripening and then do a proper initial dry with cool temperatures and low humidity.

At this point, I am really looking forward to ... Mothers, Clones and SOGs to simplify my grows and harvests.

Then I want to create my own strain ... using regular seeds. Have you ever tried that yet?

I've found Gorilla Glue #4 and I'm sticking with that until I find something with more THC. I've cloned 1 out of 3 of my current grow and have 2 seedlings (from seeds) waiting for the flower tent to open in 3 weeks (or so). Out of those 3, I'm hoping to get 2 clones of the same plant and just start a rotation of clone to veg tent to flower tent, then some clones and start the process over.
:lot-o-toke:
Or I'll screw up, kill them and have to order more seeds.

This is what I'm waiting on (there are more colas hidden behind these)

Let me look up Gorilla Glue #4 ...

That's beautiful!!! Look at all those trichomes ... I'm now interested in this, White Widow and Northern lights.

I'm actually hoping to do the same thing ... only I'm working with Tweed Bakerstreet and HSO Chemdawg at the moment for THC.

Did I tell you I was working with @InTheShed and @Preston9mm to find a good CBD strain and how to mix them properly? I wound up getting Dinafem Dinamed CBD Plus ... and popped one seed yesterday.

I have no interest in a mother plant ... I am going to keep the rotation going too ... keep two clones ... and let them just grow to about 60 cm (24") ... it worked for me last time.

I like the cloning idea and hope the SOG works out for growing primary colas.

Are you going to try that? Or just grow large plants?

Here are the pictures I took September 29, 2019 so I can track this progress over time ...

*** According to the web site:
*** Killer Kush #1 should be ready for harvest around September 30, 2019 (9½ weeks after germination).

I actually harvested this one today because I need the space in the Veg tent.

I will check on the Green Poison XL #1 tomorrow because according to the web site, it should be ready by now.

I am no longer waiting for amber trichomes since I will be getting the CBD from CBD strains like Candida and Dinamed CBD Plus.

I am still trying to get practice getting good resolution with dark photos though.

I have been very careful with the plants ... especially with the trichomes!

Awesome!!! Those are Gorilla Glue #4 right? They might work really well in my SOG!!!
Yes, they are GG#4. I'm growing the next in SCROG with 2 plants from seeds and another bag with 1-3 clones in it (I'm growing these to possibly make clones from, not for the buds so I'm likely going to really prune these because this extra bag is one too many in my 4x2). I'm planning on clones (I'll make the decision on which plant to clone during this next grow) for the subsequent grows until I kill them . . . hopefully, that will occur years from now not months.
Seeds from Seedman (a 420 sponsor) are only around $50US/5 so a new batch of plants to get a clone from is not too costly if I do mess up my clones. The plants are running true to type but as with all seeds there are variations; think of one's siblings, same parents as yourself but you are the smart and handsome one compared to you brother(s)/sister(s) ;) , this is the same with growing from seeds. I'm just trying to find the best to clone

I hope your ScrOG works out for you ... I failed miserably! I tried to force a quadlined plant under a ScrOG ... then I took down the ScrOG ... I lost about 35% of my Bakerstreets' yield to my mistakes in that Fiasco!!!

Oh well ... live and learn ... and I will try again one day when I can get the proper setup for a decent ScrOG and let the plants grow into it.

Right now I have reached some kind of a cross-roads with my clones. Some of them are getting roots ... and some of them are wilting.

The four clones I tried to germinate using the water method completely wilted and rotted last night ... it was scary how fast they died! I was not impressed!!!

I just got the Peyote WiFi seeds I won from Seedsman in the mail today ... I want to do something cool with them ... some kind of theme to make it fun!

Good luck with your Pheno hunt!

*** According to the web site:
*** Green Poison XL #1 should be ready for harvest around September 19, 2019 (8 weeks after germination).

I actually harvested this one today because it was ready and I need the space in the Veg tent for my SOG clones.

This was an interesting plant ... even though it was ready for harvest ... the pistels were still white and straight on top ... pretty tricky plant :)

I am no longer waiting for amber trichomes since I will be getting the CBD from CBD strains like Candida and Dinamed CBD Plus.

I am still trying to get practice getting good resolution with dark photos of trichomes though.

I have been very careful with the plants ... especially with the trichomes!

I am getting better at using the microscope and checking all the different bud sites at different magnifications.

*** According to the web site:
*** Red Mandarin #1 should be ready for harvest around October 11, 2019 (7½ weeks flower) .

I actually harvested this one October 02, 2019 because it looks ready.

I will be harvesting the Cream Caramel CBD #1 and both Bakerstreets late October 04, 2019 after their 3 days of darkness to ripen the buds.

I am no longer waiting for amber trichomes since I will be getting the CBD from CBD strains like Candida and Dinamed CBD Plus.

*** This statement is actually incorrect and just goes to show just how much I still need to learn!!!

*** I am actually confusing CBD with CBN.
*** To maximize CBD/THC in the plant we harvest just as would with a straight-up THC strain.

*** The CBN will become more pronounced with the development of amber trichomes!!!

I am still trying to get practice getting good resolution with dark photos though.

I have been very careful with the plants ... especially with the trichomes!
