Its all about spectrum and lumens. Cfl does not provide full needed spectrum for optimal yield. This doesnt mean you cant use it. Persinally i use mh/hps/cmh +uv and some red and far red for special times of the day. I used cfl in first grow and the results with mh/hps aint comparable to cfl...

I started cfl, changed to hps 400 and then to 1000w hps, the result was i got a room full of cfl and 400w hps/mh and their ballasts and wiring sitting there wasting space. Dont make my mistake, take the best light before everything.

Imo try sorting out nutes and soil and water before stressing the plant with training. Instead of all those little unefficient cfls use one hps.you will finally switch to hps, so why not cut the unnecessary expences? A poor fed plant will produce little yield even if you train it. Good luck

It depends on your taste, but i prefer abit earlier when the trich are less golden and almost all cloudy, imo try harvesting in 2-3 waves and harvest some full cloudy and some 5-10% amber. Then you can compare and find your tste for the next grow :) Good luck
