Can someone explain 1k Watt HPS and MH

You're trying to cover 140sq ft with 2400w of HID? No wonder you're not getting the big colas or happy with your yield. You need about 3 times as much light for that space.

I ran 1000w HID for 16 ft2. Probably could have done 5X5 with it, but with a 4X4, I can reach everything. If the OP is running only 2400w, I suggest 2 4X4' SCROGS with a DE 1000w HID over each.
 
I just got to the point where i can harvest every 2 months. Each grow is getting bit better. I just got 2 more 1ks dimmable to 600. 600 watt is more efficient then 1k. So i figure ill use 4 600 watt fixtures. Im still keeping an eye out for 2 more 600 watt kits for a total of 6 . I dont see how the height above my lights can effect anything if thats the case id drywall 4 ft of my ceiling to enclose it more.ill make some measurements but my rooms like 8 ft wide by 10 ft long and 11 high. Could be 12 ft long ill have to double check later. I think most people go wall to wall. I usually place 6 snall plants under 1 light then as they grow ill place em where the light is better . But now that i have 4 lights i imagine i wont be needing to move em around so much. Well i got the 2 new lights dropped 700 heh dog wasnt included lol this weed is fire lol.

Dimming down to 600w doesn't make them more efficient, you're just using less watts. A 1000w bulb is meant to run at 1000w not 600w so you're actually losing efficiency.
 
Well from what im reasearching a 600 watt hps is 90k lumenz? And 1k is like 120k lumenz? 30k less lumenz but near half the eletric cost? Is that close to being right?

That may be the case for a 600w bulb driven at 600w but a 1000w bulb driven at 600w is less efficient. Lumens is a horrible measurement to go by for growing, plants don't see light like we do. You need to worry about PAR not lumens.
 
So is a par meter where it shows like how much par between canipy and light? Bro this is some good weed lol.. im looking for a light meter hydro guy was sold out. And i dunno what meters i need for making sure my canopys at optimal distance from light.
 
Thank you so much bro for that information. I didnt even know. What i was thinkingnwas buying the 600 watt bulbs on these new 1k balasts. So if i ever do wanna goto 4k watts in their i can. Also as the study shows thereis some advantages and many disadvantages. Some of those disadvantages ive already picked up some i just found out now thx to you. But i got the stuff now all from the hydro supplier all under warranty and returns what not im good but what do i need to do for this situation just return the 1k bulbs for 600 and run the balast at 600? Im sketchy i may lose a lil bit but i can space these lights out a shitload better now since i got 2 more hoods. What do you guys think.? This some damn good weed !!its sunny out in the middle of a 15 day rain cycle lol.
 
Im getting mixed input from different sources about these balasts and bulbs / dimming . Now im wondering what to do like hook these 2 new lights up dimm them down or wait 100 hrs then dim down or go trade them in for 600 watt bulbs which i intended lol ima smoke on this awhile.

I have the 2 cali balasts too.. i just put the hortilux bulbs through 1 cycle already so they should be ok to dial down now. The hydro supplier warrantied everything 1 and 2 years on bulbs n balasts. Ima run the new 1ks at 1k for 110 hours then dial to 600
 
My cali balasts are warrantied 1 and a half more yrs so if they catch fire least my balasts will be warrantied aha... ive ran bulbs on lower srttings on em though for a cycle or 3 without a fire but i didnt know i dialed em down at that point. So im probally ok dialing em down from fire. U buy online sometimes u get junk. These days over here these hydroponic suppliers compete for your money cause its big here with all the 502s buying from them.
