Can You Clone Toppings? Help!

I have been working on training my veg'ing plants to stay short with topping technique and such, and now I have several small toppings that I hate to see die. I have a rooting hormone (bontone) but wondering if my clippings are just too small. Maybe 4 " in height total. Can such a small clipping survive to be cloned? If it could Im sure they would all be beautiful, short bushes. And also, what are ideal climates or environments for cloning? Thanks guys, 420 mag rules!

And as for the lighting part ( lol ) Im using two aero gardens facing eachother to make a small platform for cutings. If you are unfamiliar with aerogardens, they house 3. 32w cfl and put out a cool white spectrum. They are for small scale aeroponic growing (lettuce, peppers, etc) but work perfect for the early days of my youthes :)
