CFL test

So I have finally slapped a few cfl's on a getto reflector to get some basic light readings.
Below are the readings.
this is just 4 32w 6500k bulbs and 2 32w 3500k bulbs measured at about 18 inches...

Let me know what you guys think! These readings were all taken at 18"
I will do some more test with t5's and t8's along with some of the hid;s i scored. I am interestes in getting some cool tubes and seeing how they affect light output.

I think you have a really cool meter... :cheesygrinsmiley:

So, doing a little math:
32 watts gets 325Lu (1300/4)

that's 10 lum/watt

600W would get you 60,000 lum

a 600W HPS gets 89,000
a 600W MH gets 55,000

26 23Watt bulbs would get you 600Watts... A 600Watt HPS kit with both bulbs, cool tube, hangers, timer, ... cost $160 on Amazon.

That's $6.15/bulb not counting sockets, cords, reflector/holder, timer, etc...

Looks like the CFLs aren't such a great deal, not real bad, but HPS seems to win.

The other consideration is that CFLs can be used to get close to areas where the HPS can't, like down near the bottom/side of the plant.

Good info.

I am in control of an energy management system for a rather large University and we are going to all led lighting. That being said I can't take any of those home =p. So i can actually get pretty much all other bulbs and ballast at no charge. My major concern is heat output.
also i grabbed a a couple 65 cfl watt 5500k bulbs last night, I will test today.
