I have used this recipe for my base soil 3 times with great success. There seems to be some confusion on how to use this soil and the top soil. Fill your containers about 1/3 to 1/2 with this mix. Then you use a good soil for a top mix to fill the pails close to the top. The young seedlings do not want to be in this initial super soil or they wont survive but as they grow they will get into the nutrient rich soil.

For the top soil I use the following:
1 Bag of Promix Veg and Herb
1 Bag Promix vermiculite
2 cups of dolomite limestone
1 cup of bone meal
2 cups of Nodosum kelp meal

This will make enough to top 4 3 Gallon pots.

I then germinate the seeds and place the seedling in seed starter soil in plastic dixie cups. Once the seedling is about 1 week old I use a cup to make a hole in the main pot and remove soil and plant from the dixie cup and place it into the main pot.

I use Reverse Osmosis water from Canadian Tire that has had the minerals added back. If you use straight RO water you may run into a Magnesium deficiency.

I am on my third grow with this and works amazing. All indoor grows.

home depot and lowes are both carrying sunshine mix 4 (promix clone )
canadian tire is bringing another promix type brand in soon as well.

all three are planning to carry the mix year round. some of the larger centers might even be doing it already.

85L bale is advertised at $29.98 cdn at my local home depot and is in stock.
don't grow in the media so unsure how cost effective that works out to be.
