A southern Arizona Border Patrol canine team has recovered nearly 300 pounds of pot found hidden inside a truck.
The Border Patrol says the team was working a checkpoint on Arizona Highway 86 when dogs alerted agents.
A further search of a truck uncovered a hidden compartment stuffed with marijuana worth an estimated $230,000.
The driver was detained and the truck with the pot was impounded.
Arizona 86 parallels the Mexican Border through southern Arizona. Beginning in Ajo, the road travels east through the Tohono O'odham Reservation, passing Kitt Peak on the way to Tucson, where it ends at Interstate 19.
