I just started my 2nd week of flower on my first grow and in lieu of wanting to keep a journal about it I just wanted to post some pics as a quick little status report.

Lights:
3x100w CFL
6400K
CRI 90
Never >12" above plants, no reflector

Soil:
Black Gold "All Natural and Organic"

Pots:
5 gal buckets (except the Prez it's in 3)

Nutrients:
Tappin' Roots, Deep Breath, Flora Nova, Open Sesame and LAB serum.

Hopefully I will get some good meds off these!

Is that 3 100 watt cfl per plant? or for all three? Ladies look good so far!! By 100 is this actual wattage?
Three bulbs in total, the seller rated them at 105 watts but someone int he comments said they run more like 86. All I know is that they put out about 6000 lumens each x 3, so 18,000 lumen in total. My grow area is like 5' x 5' so from what I've researched on light limits and stuff I'm really pushing it.

Nice to meet ya man... okay here is my experience. Up until this last grow I was using CFLs to veg. then switching to an hps to bloom, but I did finish one plant in a 2' by 3' ft closet under just 2700k cfls it did pretty good. Use 2700k color cfls for your blooming stage or at least a mix of 2700 and 6400s or 6500s. Of real wattage not the equivalent wattage they list in some packages. You will need about 35 to 50 watts per square ft of grow space you have. Your doing very good with what you have already.. but you want a nice dense product right??? just add in some stuff as you can afford to. I don't think I had the recommended amount of light until the last 3-4 weeks here. The rule of thumb I hear, is .5 to 1 gram per watt of actual light watts. .5 for beginners is great. Oh yeah... I just bought the ones you can by at the hardware stores and used Y splitters to run more than one bulb off the same plug and socket.

Thanks :) Yeah the theme of this grow is basically low cost, and to help me not have to buy my meds--or at least not as much, so the lack of the 2700K spectrum is my biggest concern. However I spoke with some pretty experienced growers and they said I would still get pretty decent buds off just a full spectrum light, as long as it was a decent light. When I looked into that more, mostly in other areas regarding hydroponic vegetable and fruit growers, what I found was that the CRI rating is another factor to look at because if a bulb is full spectrum and has a CRI of 80-90 then it still emits high amounts of red spectrum light, despite the fact that it is predominantly blue tone to the eye.

Anyway my intention was to do as you said and add as I could as I went along, but I'm hoping to harvest this and then not have to buy meds and use the money I would spend on a nice Apollo 250 CFL in 2700K. In the meantime I've got two 27w desklamps in 2700k that I use to veg in my bathroom that for whatever reason work great, so I've been thinking about supplementing these girls with those. Less than 60 watts of light but combine that with whatever is coming out of the full spectrum on the other bulbs and I mean, it can only help.

I'm trying to stick with CFL mainly for the electrical cost but secondly due to heat issues. Because those compound electrical issues...

Yeah I hear ya man... I would add those 2700Ks. As I understand it if you only can have one type of bulb the 27s are better?? But I really think for me anyway, the ones I did with a little of both spectrum's did way better. When using cfls more little ones may actually be better, because you can slide them down in between the plants to the lower bud sites. Right now I still use cfls for side lights to my LED I bought. The LEDs are starting to get way cheaper than they used to be.

Not sure if some of those pistils are just browning naturally or if it's burn from the pesticides I used, probably the latter 'cause it burned my plants in veg pretty hard too. Oh well at least the flowers look a little bigger, have to watch it next time.
