Peters is an ok brand. Avoid Miricle Grow if you can, and stay away from anything w/time release nutes. Try to get something organic. Flush really well, and use organic nutes, and you shouldn't have a problem.

Potting soil is very heavy. Shipping charges can be more than the Fox Farms.

Go to any large nursery and look for compost-based potting soil that has the following additives:
Bat/bird guano
Worm castings
Seaweed/kelp
lime
mychorrizae
and
perlite.

I use a brand called Power Flower which is an exact duplicate of Fox Farms Ocean & Forest.

I couldn't find any FoxFarms in my area either, so I got the only organic stuff I could find, "New Plant Life" potting mix and NPL compost manure. My plants seem to be doing pretty well.

I use the cheapest stuff I can find at rite aid ($2.99) and have never had a problem with it. Add a little perlite and it's good to go.

I have the same problem where I live, the nearest place that sells FF here is over 2 hours away. I do what RaceFan advises. Buy the cheapest organic I can find and mix more pearlite into it.
