Need a setup suggestion

Well, my summer crop has come and gone (almost). And now its time for a winter grow. I have never done indoors, but heres what I got. I have a shop building that is 1400 sq ft. 12 ft ceilings. Winters here can get down to the 20's. The building is insulated and is pretty easy to heat with a diesel heater. What would you do....
1.build a 8x8 grow room inside the building
or
2.just grow out in the middle of everything
I have a 1000w MH/HPS switchable coming in a few days.

Build a room or use a tent. Much easier to control the envirionment. The light will reflect off the walls. A single 1000 for 12-15 plants will be a stretch without a light mover.

Building a room is kinda where Im leaning. Can I vent the hood heat back down to the bottom of the room to keep the soil temps up?

No reason you can't. Most have too much heat so they vent outside of the grow area. If yours is too cool use the light for heat.
