In soil, you mean? It's one way to help determine the pH of the media. (The other being the "take a sample and mix with 7.00pH H2O.")

Knowing the pH is generally considered important.

well my ph stays ~6.8-7 all the time. id it mainly important for adding nutes and teas n such?

well when you water you supposed to let 10% runofff anyways, so i test that aS MY RUNOFF

imho...measuring runoff pf is the best way to know the ph of your soil....

If your soil ph is off, it will affect the plants ability to uptake nutrients (lockout).
