Please help identify - Bad? Am I overthinking?

I noticed this spot this morning. Initially I thought It was a bug. But looks like it’s dead or dying growth. It’s small but the discoloration, darker area concerns me. Am I overthinking this?

Not sure what has caused that, but I think I'd pinch it off just in case it is rot on the plant
Might be worth considering a little defoliation to allow more air through?

Should I trim off from just below? It’s one of the main tops

Dont cut the branch off, just remove the dead bit with your fingers.
