Hi, my plants are 5 weeks old and getting thick, any advice on pruning would be greatly appreciated.

We knew this was going to happen didn't we 
All you can do is chop off lowest popcorn shoots and any large fan leaves that obscure bud sites
Probably best to go for main donkey-dick colas now

Ok, what about that topping technique I read about?
That will just make it more bushy and you will likely get a greater number of smaller buds
You're too far in for topping - it's usually done 3rd - 4th node
Only other (drastic and risky) option would be to take the tops off and root them for a super-crop
