Purple Something & Maybe Something Else

Got the seeds from a friend who grows outside, i know there were 2 different strains one with lots of purple and i dont really remember the other one at all.This is my first indoor grow and im using 2 T12 Cool Whites on a makeshift plant rack with plans to upgrade to T8s.

I have 9 plants but plan to keep the healthiest 4 females to flower.I buried the seeds a little too deep this time and had to dig most out, im just waiting for them to lift their heads.Here are pictures of my plant rack and 2 biggest seedlings:

Have you considered going with cfl or T5 rather than T8s?

From what ive been reading the pros t5 has over t8 arent worth the difference in cost and i can retro fit my t12 setup to a t8 easily.Also my T8 setup will be pretty much free.

3 days later this is what i have.The light was moved for the pics,I used photoshop to brighten the last plant in the 1st pic so its visible.

Thanks everything was made from stuff i recycled pretty much, the wood was scrap, the light was from my barn because im switching to cfl,the power cord was from an old satellite receiver, the soil was i found in the attic of my barn, the cups i got from a friend.The only thing new is the timer.

Been away from my house for a week, in that week my furnace ran out of oil and one of my bulbs died.The plants show no sign of damage though They've grown a bit too.

The leaves started to corkscrew on a few of my babies, looks like i may have gave them too much water.They should be ok in a few days.

I found a picture from my friends crop which i got my seeds from, this plant doesnt have any purple but could also be a male or its the other strain he had.

20 days in here's how they look.Leaves are still corkscrewed on twister but i let the plants go 5-6 days before watering.

Potted up today, added some gravel to the bottom of the pots to help drainage as it seemed the cups, although pretty were retaining too much water.

Been a long time since i posted, plants are coming along nicely. Does anyone know what the pollen/gold dust looking stuff in the 3rd pic is?
