Quieting an inline fan.

I have to get some sort of container for my inline fan as I would like to knock down the noise a bit.

Wondering what everyone thinks!

Igloo cooler or Home made MDF box with sound dampening materials.

Home Depot and Lowes sell a muffler for inline fans. Also you can wire a fan speed cotroller switch into the line. You can buy a rheostat for about $5. Easy to hook up.

The people at Home Depot sounded confused and said no, the guy at Lowes at least knew what they were and that they did not sell them.(Duct Muffler)

My vote would be to pay for the better inline fan...Vortex has the quietest inline
fans around that I can find. As to mufflers you can find them at horticulturesource.com in their Fans, Ventilation, Duct section. As Weed420 pointed out you can also wire in a rheostat if the fan is speed controllable, essentially adjust the voltage the fan sees...or you can just buy a speed controller for ~$20 from most Grow Stores...
