Saran Wrap to the rescue!

We have had many storms in Southern Ontario, the kind with wind storms that just drive the outdoor plants to the ground, causing splits and breaks
I was just given this tip last week, from a gentleman from Portugal. Use Saran Wrap to wrap up and support your breaks, then secure with tape.
He laughed when I said I used duct tape (it worked, thank goodness!). Seems Portugal has been using Saran Wrap for ages for all their grows outside.
It’s cheaper then that “plant tape” and works just the same :thumb:

I use medical tape. The plant can stretch through it as it grows... the benefit is that while its healing, you can spray it with water and it will absorb it. That keeps the area moist and almost acts like Neosporin does on a cut. I’ve had some very gnarly breaks, never lost a limb.

Also if you have a thinner stalk snap during a super crop or something and need to support it... get a straw, cut up the side of it (I cut it in a spiral fashion), open it up and use it as a sleeve support. Again the plant can grow out of it, and you can easily remove it.
