Seedlings

Hi I was just wondering if my seedlings look ok? I’ve never grown from seeds before. They are WW fem and are a week old. Grown in Oz and outdoors. I bring them inside at night and out in the morning. They look healthy but a bit tall, is this normal? Thanks for any advice

You can plant them a little deeper, by filling pots with more soil....

If they're stretchy they need more light. It's the tail end of winter in Oz right now so there's not as much light. How many hours roughly are you putting them outside? Maybe when you bring them in over night you could stick them under a lamp for a few hours of extra light until they get bigger and the days get longer.

Roughly 11 hours of light and slowly getting longer. Days are warm. I knew it was a little early but thought it will work out ok. Or do you think I’m in trouble? What light would you recommend for the extra few hours they need?

You'll be fine mate, just couple months early to put into the ground... We'll still get cold days if your Vic but stick them behind glass those days...

You'll want a lot more than 11 hours of light. A standard indoor veg light schedule is 18 hrs light and 6 hrs dark. You won't be in trouble, just might get lanky plants that don't produce as much as they could have.

Personally I've just used a desk lamp with a regular light globe for seedlings for the first 1-3 weeks. You can put the light 1-2cm away from the tops of the seedlings and they'll be fine (just don't let them touch the light).

Thanks I was starting to stress a little. If I have to support them a little so be it. Might look into cfl’s or a little led for the extra few hours.

I took your advice and picked up a little clone tent and 2xt5 outfit with a little fan for $50- bargain : )
I put them in for the extra 3 hrs they need. Hope the different sun/T5 light won’t mess them around too much. Better off leaving them in there for the whole day maybe?
