What size air pump for my hydro set up? I'm using a 20 gallon long aquarium instead of a plastic container (they don't flex when you fill them up with water). Should I just use an air pump rated for a 20 gallon tank or what?

In my opinion I would go with the ecoplus 396 GPH SUBMERSIBLE PUMP. Its inexpensive pump.

Cool. I already have a tetra whisper aquarium pump for a 60 gallon tank. I'll just use that. Thanks for the help dudes.

Switched up to a 29 gallon. Same length as a 20 long but a little wider and deeper. I have the pump, black air line, and 20" bubble stone. I have some net pots, and i'm still looking at what material to use as a lid to set the pots in. Still deciding on the medium i'm going to use, although i'm hearing a lot of good stuff about Hydroton. Planning on covering the outside with black construction paper to prevent light getting in. The only other thing I don't know besides that is how often to change the water.

most of the reading I have done it says 10 to 14 days, I change mine every Friday, rinsing the res, air stone, and hoses. Any longer and I get a slime in the bucket. as for a lid, I've seen great things from styrofoam.
