What system is this?

Hi there ...new guy here !
I am in Thailand for holidays, and I found these buckets.
I guess its a DWC system, but why does it have 2 hoses between the buckets ?

probably to help guarantee they don't overflow from a blockage in 1 of the pipes 2 pipes will move the water quicker too ,the roots like fresh moving reticulated water. I have a similar set-up but mine is a flood and drain using and printed bell syphon above the reservoir

Yeah I thought so too ...for better flow ....can't be for clocking, as its only water in there ..
Ok...Imma find a feederbucket, and cut some holes to connect the stuff.
Might need a heat gun to get them pipes on
later
