300W LED Shootout: 12/12 From Seed - Featuring Super Silver Haze

Yeah, they're going to be tasty little nugs - perfect for christmas bowls of joy! :high-five:

I've learned much from this first go round with soil, and when SteveHman and I duke it out Iron Chef Style, I'll be fully prepared to beat him down.

This grow is pretty much just going to be low maintenance, no fancy nothing, just finish up *everything* in soil under 12/12 and get the tent ready for Part Deux. Not concerned with volume of yield or anything; just happy I didn't totally fuck things up, and most importantly, I learned.

Do you still plan on growing in soil? Or have you come back to the water-world? Either way, I'm ready for you, this just gives me more time to dial in my air-pots.

Glad to see you're pulling this grow together and hope you are able to get some meds out of it.:bravo:

Hi JZ,

So, I finally made it to the end, sorry it took me so long. Wow I didn't realize all the issues you've been having.

A few ???

Can you elaborate on pheno's a little. As you know I'm new and a little thick. I learn best hands on, not from a book, so don't get too technical...strains even tho they are the same, PE, Chocolope, AU, whatever it may be, can have different characteristics? Two seeds supposedly from the same plant can grow differently. Is that it?

Also you referred to regular molasses feedings...do you give molasses the entire grow? Veg and Bloom? How often? How much? and how do you decide?

You made mention of using those biodegradable pots...2 years ago I used those growing tomatos and I didn't like them, they seemed to inhibit good root growth when the plant tried to grow out of the pot. Then last year, I used them again but this time when I transplanted to big pots I ripped the bottom and sides of the bio-pot off, to expose the roots directly, they grew much better that way. Just a personal observation. Those pots don't degrade that fast.

You alluded to PAR vs Lumens in one of your posts and that plants prefer PAR. Did I get this right? I've heard the term before, but have forgotten what it stands for.

Post #197 "looking like time for more PK" - what does that look like?

What did you do with the Wonder Woman clones? I didn't see any mention of them.

By the way, I just want to thank you again, for meeting me, for the gift, for the info...it's really nice to know someone close to home.

Oh ya, where do you get cal/mg?

One last thing...more pictures, bud porn or no, we like the pictures. I've been trying to think of a name for seedling porn...pre-bud porn

:peace: and good luck to the finish. I'll be sending you good vibes.

Ok Y'all,

I got it ...just this second over in Mr.K's journal somewhere around post #305, "Budlett porn":rofl:

Just poppin' by to say hi. Hope you're well Jozo! I learn something every day about growing these lovely ladies. I still don't know shit! Glad to hear you're rarin' to go for part deux. Hydro, eh...?? :)
Yes, hydro. One can never have too many tools to grow our herb!
Hi there jazo !! Great journall i to work with gls 600 and all i can say is good light!!
Thanks! I like the 300; I can't wait to try this all again :high-five:

The stems weren't worth photographing, they were only about as big around as a pencil.

This should answer your question:

Pheno, or phenotype is exactly as you think. Just like a human mom and dad make children with a variety of characteristics that stand out, so do seeds from a male/female cross, especially things like height, leaf size and flowering time can vary. Breeders will take plants with desirable characteristics and cross them together to increase the likelihood of those things showing up in the babies, but other traits will often come through.

Also you referred to regular molasses feedings...do you give molasses the entire grow? Veg and Bloom? How often? How much? and how do you decide?

There's a link in my signature to using molasses! :high-five:

No, not biodegradable pots; I have Air Pots (plastic with holes all over) and Smart Pots (fabric pots that are reusable). I may have miscommunicated, sorry.

"Photosynthetic Active Radiation"

Post #197 "looking like time for more PK" - what does that look like?

It doesn't look like anything to me, I just know that plants in active flower tend to use and require more P and K. If you look at the NPK numbers on your two part nutes, you'll see how the bloom has higher values of P and K.

What did you do with the Wonder Woman clones? I didn't see any mention of them.

Updates on them in my 'Part Deux' journal in my signature.

By the way, I just want to thank you again, for meeting me, for the gift, for the info...it's really nice to know someone close to home.

Me too! It was a blessing. :Namaste:
Oh ya, where do you get cal/mg?

I have a whole extra bottle if you need some! You can also get it at any hydro shop.

Thanks sqwheels! You too! :peace:

I did some juggling and snagged the GS300 and put it in the 2' x 2' tent with the 4 younger Chocolopes:

And the older ones? Getting some amber trichs, so I chopped 'em - probably get only a half from all this, but whatever :thumb:

I'll clue you in on what's happening with the big tent in "Part Deux".

:thanks:

JZ! Wow nice porn too! I envey you your ability at takin those really nice pics! I think most of us learn best by doin it. But it shure is a lot easier with all the help you get here.
I have a hell of a time with my old stuff getting great pics to post, still trying. I bet those buds are sweet, might be hard to have some for Christmas. lol

Jozo,

I have a question on watering the air pots.

I normally get a lot of water that runs through my regular pot if it drys out a bit. To stop that I plug the 2 holes in the buckets with tape and let the water sit for 20-30 min then remove the tape and very little water comes out.

How do you get the water to stay in the air pots with so many holes?

My next experiment is to make a sort of bag out of landscape fabric that fits in the current pots I use and water the same way. I read this stops the roots from circling like the air pots do. comments?

You have to pack the beejeezus out of the AirPots, for starters, and work it *into* the holes as much as possible. Once I decided to water, I'd start in the center with a sprinkling head until the surface was wetted well, then work my way out to the edges. Hope this helps :)

The landscape fabric bags work essentially the same, but I find are handier for using 'wicking' types of hydro - they're for sale as 'GrowBags' or some such, comercially. If you've a decent hand with a sewing machine though, I'd opt for making my own too! :welcome::peace:

Wow just read both your grows from the sewage to here. Have you considered going down to Louisiana during Mardi Gras and gettin a witchy woman to sacrifice a goat or chicken to change your luck? I knew one in Houma that could do it all for $40. I cut vertical grooves in my buckets I use in my wick systems so they are sort of airpots. You could run wicks in airpots and have no watering problems. Heres to some smooth sailing for ya.
