3x Northern Lights Fem, Indoor & Outdoor Combo, BioBizz Soil

Day #78 Flowering day: 55

Shades! While ordering all the new equipment decided to order pH- supplements also. Ive fed pheno#1 and #3 with ~5.6pH water for couple of days now. And looks like we starting to gain some purplish shades on the foliage.
And pheno#1 has some like 30% amber ones already.

Also a quick look at Critical(s)… meh not going too well. Looks like the one which were struggling under the soil has recovered and improved a bit. But still looks soooo fragile. Idk whats her doing anyway since taproot came thru the bottom of the rockwool cube and has like 20mm tail now which Im trying to cover up with soil. Seedling should fix her stem and properly stand up.
still got hope!

And for the last couple pics from the NL#3 clones nicely flowering in 1L (0.26g) Air Pots.
They flower so much faster than their mothers..I guess one big reason was excess Nitrogen.

Day #80 Flowering day: 58

Up to the eyes in  Getting almost hectic cuz hand watering 9 different plants per day, doing my best to keep the emerging Critical 2.0 seedling alive and trying to get new setups ready..

Took pheno#1 and #3 out for the last flush. Did this because lowered soil’s pH all the way down to 5.6 - tried to bring up purplish shades on the foliage.

Might get some shades:

Looks like we startin to get some cloudy and amber trichomes:

And then lets take a quick look at the upcomming Critical 2.0 XL autos and Blackberry Kush autos

Firstly germinated and emerged Critical 2.0 sittin on DWC net cup right now and top feedin it for now.
D28A5966-85AF-409D-A7A7-F35A3D37FAC8.jpeg

In meantime doing little experimenting with DWC.
Placed some clay pebbles in a strainer to see how well the bubbles and splashes moisten the bottom.. When getting the water level right about 1-1/5" from the bottom those sprinkles nicely moisten the bottom layer. - I guess its soon time to put net cup on and run DWC.

And lastly one more Critical 2.0 XL and two Blackberry Kushes looks like they all would germinate this time.

Found your DWC:ciao::cheesygrinsmiley:

I'll follow along and help out where and how I can if you'd like.

I like how you tested the splashes- very clever!!

How big of a bucket are you using? Looks like a 5 gallon? If so perfect!

I'm actually quite interested in seeing this strain grown out, she should get nice and real big!

HeHey @Rexer ! :ciao: Thanks for following and guiding me, I really appreciate it. As this going to be my first full grow on DWC.
Actually its going to be 2x Criticals (one in DWC and one in coco - to see pros n cons on both mediums) and then 2x Blackberry Kushes goes coco and soil with same kind of comparison.
Original plan was 3x Criticals: one in dwc, one soil and one coco. But plans changed a bit since two criticals did not germinate.

And yeh the bucket is 15L (4gallon) when filled to the bottom of net cup and the ”main capasity” will be most likely between 12-14L (~3.5gallon) and that size should be enough for the roots. Also air pump says 252L/hr and adjustable power. When running full power in that bucket it blows nice splashes even tho the air stone laying in bottom.

As soon as setting the net cup on dwc and after planting those seeds which are germinating right now Im going to make a new journal for them. I’ll share the link here on this thread as soon as Ive started the new diary.

Also as we spoke before about how soggy was the rockwool cube but luckily seedling kinda praying/reaching towards the light now. Doesn’t she look a bit better than before?

She looks as happy as can be
I have zero experience with coco, but generally it follows the same principles. When the time comes we can tag someone in to help you with that if need be.

Everything sounds pretty good- your bucket is on the slightly smaller size- that will mean a lot more work for you later on and may limit root growth a bit - but is doable.

Have you read any journals for DWC? There's a few excellent one on here that I can link for you to read over- it's always prudent to do, you can see problems they encountered and how to prevent or deal with them should you encounter them.

Here's the biggest thing when I help- I've got memory problems. I'm not a pro either. That being said, I'll always be thankful for a tag if I wonder away or your journal gets lost in notifications. Feel free to tag me as often as you'd like to get my attention. Don't be shy, seriously.

Thanks brother :)
And yes Ive read couple really instructive ones. That was like first thing learned to encounter from there - first timer maybe should not directly plant a seed/seedling into dwc because those are very critical moments for the seedling and can kill them easily by over watering or get problems with roots they wont grow towards the water because theres so much water available from clay pebbles.
BUT for sure if u got some good journals bookmarked I’ll take a look into them if u share the links.

Im trying to dry the rockwool down and gently top feed her later tonight so I possibly could put it into dwc tomorrow.
Kinda found out that I can have a 2.5-3" gap between the water and net cup bottom. That makes the test strainers bottom clay pebbles nicely moist! Strong air pump makes nice splashes and sprinkles which I figured out would be good for the seedling yet without strong root system. Guess my DIY strainer worked

I'll send you some links in a bit.

Just let it dry naturally. Trying to assist is what usually gets growers in trouble with their plants
Whatever you do, please never squeeze rockwool. It compresses the material making it less aerated, and harder for roots. She's on the right track right now my friend.

I really liked the strainer idea, what I did for my flood and drain was run it without the plant, figure out the "wet line" by digging down into the hydroton, and then placing one layer of hydroton before placing the plant. Similar concept, different methods :high-five:

I have to do some chores around the house but will pop back on with the links for you.

You're off to a great start!

Day #81 Flowering: 59

Hellow and happy friday folks!
Last night Pheno#1 went for the 48hrs sleep before the chop! Didn’t stem split this one, but gave her some ice cubes :sorry:
Thought 48h darkness and ice cubes as a stress test would strive and bring up more trichomes …We’ll see…maybe.

Couple pics of Pheno#1 before the sleep:

Also a quick peek at the germination/seedling section:
~ all three (one Critical 2.0 XL and two auto Blackberry Kushes) germinated and now planted! :)
~ Pic below:
Criticals in DWC and one in 11L Fabric pot (in coco)
Blackberry Kushes one in Soil 12L (3gallon) Air Pot. And one in Rockwool cube (this one goes to coco in 6L/2.5g Air Pot as soon as harvesting Pheno#3)
~ Critical in DWC hasn’t really grew in past 24hrs. Running the DWC now with a timer: it bubbles for 1h then stays off for 3h. Trying to keep bottom of the net cup nicely moist and cant run it 24/7 because that would wet the rockwool too much.
~ Also took one more monster cropped Clone from NL#2 Clone, heh cloning clones, but I want to keep this Phenos genes as it is fairly much the easiest, fastest and most resistant cannabis plant Ive ever grown. Anyway makes no logic since Im having 8 Clones preflowering/flowering of which most must be thrown away in a week or two to get some space inside the tent.
4C273AFF-8196-422D-B8A4-8955D4CDF9D6.jpeg

Things with DWC:
- water temp: 20C (68F)
- temp & RH: 26C/78F & 40%RH (a bit low humidity might turn stemer on)
- Reservior filled with 8L water and mixed in 1.5ml/l GHE Root Booster, 0.2ml/l GHE Triparts Micro.
- EC 0.4 and pH was 7 but lowered it down to 5.9

And those seedling having a 100W LED panel for the first week of veg. 200W LED when getting them inside the tent.
Hopefully everything works out and can start up a new journal soon.
Stay tuned and thanks for stoppin by! :)

No roots visible yet.. I guess the growth will explode as soon as roots hit the water and getting the gap for air roots between water and net cup.
What I read it usually takes 7-12 days to roots come thru 6" net cup.

Day #82 Flowering: 60

Tonight Pheno#1 goes down. She has slept for 48hrs. Dont know if the darkness brought up anymore trichomes.. At least having a decent mix of cloudy and ambers. Will post later tonight after shes trimmed and weighed.

Last night did a stem split on Pheno#3 as well. So her last 5-7 days count down has started!

Congratulations on the harvest, may none of your trichomes be clear!
Thank you mates! :) Going to be a lot more satisfied with Pheno#1 compared to Pheno#2.

Also being like super busy bcoz its my B’day tomorrow 9/19, but SURE I’LL TAKE IT; trim buds tonight and watch new seedlings to pop out! Can there be any better birthday gift?

Day #84 Flowering: 62

Hey! The weekend harvest was a blast! Pheno#1 wet weight were 155g (~5oz)
Couple pics from the harvest below.
2/3 Plants harvested
~ Pheno#2 dry weight were ~25g (0.9oz)

Also Pheno#3 is the last one standing right now. She will be chopped in 3-5days. I managed to pull out little purplish shades on the leaves.

The highlight of harvest:

This round will be soon over. More than happy because the whole growth has been one big lesson, once again. Feels like every time you grow a cannabis plant from start to finish it teaches you every time more and more.
And now taking the cultivation even further with new growing mediums.
You can follow my next Comparison grow here: Verbalist’s DWC vs COCO vs SOIL - Grow

This journal will be ended when Pheno#3 goes down and every single dry bud has been weighed and Ive got the total dry weight.

Day #85 Flowering: 63

Pheno#1 were hang drying for ~72hrs it got a bit too crispy.. Jar curing it now and had to ”sweat it”. Don’t know whats the exact term used in eng. But basicly getting a fine cloth and moisting it, then putting it between air tight jar lid. The moist cloth moistens the buds just a bit so after that starting a proper curing it brings up the trichomes even better.
I’ll post an example pic l8r.

2/3 plants harvested:
- Pheno#2 dry weight were: ~25g (0.9oz)
- Pheno#1 dry weight were: 42g (1.5oz)

A bit more satisfied with Pheno#1 :) But still waiting for the biggest gift. Pheno#3 will yield most likely something like 70-80g (~2.8oz)
So then total would be 140-150grams (~5oz) I’ll take that! :)
606B0067-497B-413A-9663-612A36EEC7B7.jpeg

Pheno#3 has definitely gained some shades on the foliage. Looks almost black but lookin closer its deep purplish.. hope those shades catch even better, would be great looking end for this journal

Evening!

Idk if that methods popular already or if it has a name on it..
If the buds getting slightly too dry and crispy I like to ”sweat” them:

- Get the curing jar and place the weed in it
- Get fine cloth (microfiber etc.) and moist it a bit. Just a couple sprays.
- if theres any excess water just squeeze it off…
- place the cloth between the air tight jar lid (see pic below) and seal the lid.
- Check the jar every other hour and when buds surface starts to feel soft and they get more stickier again just remove the cloth.
- start your normal curing process.. Open the lid every now and then for first 2-4 days to let the excess moisture out.

If I remember right this was some part of the water curing, but found out if you do so before starting the normal curing it brings even more trichomes to the surface and visible. Can’t remember what was the scientific articulation for it. But it has something to do when moisture gets attached to the trichomes they visually look even better.
A31477F6-3ABA-42A7-B992-1F07FAA2A085.jpeg

If youve got some just chopped weed feel free to give it a test with one nug ”sweating” and one normal curing, and see if theres any difference!

Now its time to roll a night J, get couch locked, pass out and wake up at the morning to pet the seedlings  SMH Ive got so much work in arrears. My boss will call me any day soon and ask dafuq Im doing every day when I dont show up on scheduled online meetings.

G’nite! :bongrip:

Day #90 Flowering: 68

3/3 HARVESTED
~Completed Journal~

Hi! Last night chopped and harvested Pheno#3  So she was the last one.
This round was a superb! Fairly easiest and most resistant plants Ive ever had. They were super easy to grow and didn’t have actual problems at all…

Then the yields!! :)
Pheno#3 yielded wet weight: 293g (~10oz) Yay! Hopefully dry weights something like 100g ~3oz
….so…..
Total would be:
Pheno#2 dry: ~25g (0.9oz)
Pheno#1 dry: ~45g (~1.5oz)
Pheno#3 dry (guess): 95-105g

So total would be like 170-180g ~6oz
Thats then around 0.65g/1watt with 2x2 (60x60cm) scrog, not too bad for 25 days veg.
