Turkey roasting bags are a option easy open and close.

One member in another thread I was reading said anything Plastic is really bad for your health. Something to consider Maybe find something glass or SS that seals well just my 2 cents worth They also sale Bigger Mason jars but they do cost more

Looking for a good used fridg? Check out the Restore if u got one near u. Plug them in and see.

I didnt have much luck finding a decent used fridge locally. So i'm trying to make my room cold as possible with rh around 50.

I have dozens of mason jars and it's a pain in the ass for burping/curing compared to having a couple larger container. lol. Ive heard that too that plastic is bad lol

Glass jars are all cleaned up ready to go. Today is day 5 hanging on the rack in 40-59 F with RH 50. I noticed the exterior of the buds is getting lil dry and the stem is pretty much at the snap. I think might i have too much air movement with in the room. There's a ac blowing air a fan on low setting pointing to a wall, not directly on the bud. The outside temps is cold enough and i left the door open and shut off both ac + fan. Think it's about due to start jaring in a day or so and i hope the air movement didn't hurt it too much.

Yesterday was day 7 of my low and slow. The smell is entirely different than from the same plants that are currently air drying. Drying in the house without a carbon filter means the house certainly has that smell. Over time you only seem to notice it when coming in after being outside, unless I open the fridge.

I've been doing the 1x per day gentle air and toss. The humidity in a few "representative" bags was hovering in the low 70's. One of the 17 bags though, definitely had dry buds in it. I didn't even bother to check for humidity levels, so a mason jar and brovada pack was in order.

I tossed a small sample in the bong just to be sure. Even without a cure, winner winner. My wife didn't believe that it was the same air drying plant we have sampled from. Very stoney.

Low and slow on the top. Air dried on the bottom.

Bud, that was a very thorough look at the wonder that is your garden. :laughtwo: You gonna have space to dry all that in the chill?

And way to go Booja! :high-five: I’m so pleased to hear the wife approves, but then that’s no surprise. :battingeyelashes: As the buds go through the cure it only gets better. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Guys.... Amy’s caution about plastic is in the use of roasting bags to decarb. Using those bags keeps the smell down, but we hadn’t considered how dangerous it might be to the healing force that is the ECS.

Decarbing in plastic works against the very system we use cannabis to support. It feels like a better idea to decarb in a glass or stainless container and leave the plastic particulates out of our medicine and recreational drugs.

As far as storing goes, there’s no better way IMO than glass, but vacuum sealing is another option I’d look at for long-term.

Although most of us are happy to have enough to get to the next harvest, so long-term storage doesn’t often enter the picture. :battingeyelashes:

Big old fridge sitten in my basement,we use to use it when the kids were younger for extra storage.
Unplugged till about a year ago when I started fooling around with low and slow and it’s been running ever since.
Fingers crossed that it stays alive ( one heavy sucker to move ) it does the job I’m sure it’s not very energy efficient ether but it’s what I got. I don’t have to worry much longer the temp dropped to below
Freezing last night outside and I’m considering placing a few bags in my attic to see if that will work with the overflow from the fridge. XXXOOO

Interesting you should mention freezing. :battingeyelashes:

I don’t advocate letting the buds freeze altogether, but I recently came into some bud that’d been dried low and slo at too low temps for a day or two. When the grower found his mistake the buds weren’t more than surface frozen, so he set the temps higher and left it all alone.

What he ended up with were buds that’re much darker in color and more potent than I expected. This is a strain I prefer, so I have extensive experience with it from many gardens.

This sampling was by far the most narcotic I’ve sampled. It was grown outdoors by @tommyboi. I took some shots to contrast our end results of the same genetics.

I’ll be watching with interest should you decide to experiment with some of your harvest Bud.

That’s gonna be awesome if it doesn’t go below freezing! Perfect place to low and slow with plenty of space @Bud.

I just did my second harvest which came in at a total of 5 plants, all of which I dried in my refrigerator. Today I created a flow chart of my low and slow process. I hope it can help guide some people who work better with visuals.

I hope that is a clear explanation.

My pleasure Sue!! :hug::cheesygrinsmiley::green_heart:

You’re gonna motivate me to start back on my flow chart and mind mapping projects. We have so many members who work better visually.

You know I was just sittin there typing all of that out in a new post here and I’m thinking to myself “there’s gotta be a clearer way for me to write this out...” that’s when the bright idea of downloading a flowchart app hit me. Took me a few hours to get it all right, but now it will be up for years to come for all the new members!

I have it book marked and saved to my pictures Thank You the chart looks Great

Trays: Is the room darkened with controlled humidity?

I live near the coast. That step wouldn’t work for me. I could rehydrate for cobbing here the way @Weaselcracker can. :laughtwo:

I love the way you break it down by humidity levels. A picture tutorial might be an interesting project.

Yep..... impressed I am. The personal observations are the parts that often get left out, but make all the difference in the world to an actual grower processing the precious harvest.

Gosh guys.... it can be a bit overwhelming to sit back and see the influence one passionate soul can have. Smiling ear-to-ear. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Well done. :high-five:

For the tray burping, I do it in a cabinet in my kitchen. so yes dark, but not humidity controlled. I believe that’s not the important part here. Although humidity is what we’re monitoring, we’re only burping for temp at this point. Bring the flowers back to room temp to bring the drying process back to full steam. Then slow it back down. The ambient rH will dictate how long you have to stay in this part of the cycle.

Hi Chef. Big props to your method and the flow chart is awesome.

Not trying to be negative but your process is a lot different and a little more complex than the way I do it so wanted to mention that for those new to low and slow so they know there are other ways to do it.

Chop, trim up to and leaving sugar leaves on, wash, hang dry for 3-4 hours, take buds off stems (I've left them on too) fill paper bags about 28 grams wet each (depends on size of bag but don't overfill) stack in fridge, gently tumble all bags on days 3 and 6 leaving all bags out of fridge and open for about 15 minutes, back in fridge, check by touch around 10-14 days, if dry enough put in jars with hygrometers for a few hours, if over 72 back in fridge if under 72 keep in jars and burp once or twice per day til in the sweet spot 62-65 and done.

I do really like the chart and one day if it suits me, I may try your method but for now I'll keep doing what ive been doing.
