Pics are going to suck from now on, unfortunately. Switched to the HPS bulb.... . I don't even have a camera that's capable of flashing enough to capture them with the light off. I don't think I'm going to be taking them out of the tent much, but I'll try my best to get some better pictures, especially when the buds start coming in nicely.
I need some advice this week: How can I minimize stretch during these first 2 weeks? I understand the HPS makes them stretch more than MH but still trying to keep it down. What is optimal light height during these first two weeks? They didn't like 8 inches from the tips, some started folding. Now I have them at 10" (more like 11-13 since the bulb is higher than the glass).
When is the latest I can top/fim them if I want?
What should my target PPM be about now?
My humidity rose to 62% lately. If it stays right there, I won't be too bothered. But how can I drop the humidity a little (cheaply/easily)?
They've been through two nights of darkness now, but some of the pics are right before the switch and yesterday as well. They should be in order though:
You can use the MH for the first two weeks to minimize stretch.
According to the light distance chart, your 400w hps should be at 6-7" to get your full 50,000 lumens but that does not take heat into consideration. At 11" your getting about 19,000 lumens
Your Hood is air cooled and the plants couldn't handle 8" with a 400w? Could you add a fan blowing directly at the hood lens and one across the canopy? That might let you get it a little closer
I don't think those pictures look bad at all! Is there anyway you could use a cfl to take pictures in flower?
Here is a rough guideline on PPM's I think I saved from 420fieds journal, it is for a 9-10 week strain using BPN 3-part w/bloom booster
Days 1-3 - 450PPM (5ML Micro, 5ML Grow, 5ML Bloom)
Days 4-14 - 700PPM (10ML Micro, 5ML Grow, 5ML Bloom)
Days 15-21 - 900PPM (10ML Micro, 10ML Grow, 10ML Bloom, 2ML LB)
Days 22-42 - 1250PPM (10ML Micro, 10ML Grow, 25ML Bloom, 2ML LB)
Days 43-57 - 1350PPM (10ML Micro, 12ML Grow, 30ML Bloom, 2.5ML LB)
Days 58-60 - Flush with plain water
Days 61-63 - Let plants dry out
Day 63 - Chop
Half were retrained yesterday after being put back in the tent. Then the other half- this morning when they woke up.
Here's current canopy shots, light/tent setup (I think I have more than enough room for some tasty buds of 3 different strains), and an early bud shot:
Almost 7 days of flowering now, not much stretch at all . Hopefully the next 7 days go as smoothly....
They all were trained before I put them back in the tent. Canopy looks good. Cannot wait to see some actual buds!
Few pics today after watering (not all of them are shown :/), luckily they're still removable from the tent too:
Small update- in the pics you'll see the canopy got all uneven since the last update. Letting them grow however they want until I feed tomorrow, then I am going to re-train before I leave for the weekend. I'm having a non growing buddy tend to them for 5 days... really really nervous about that, but not really at the same time lol. I am leaving VERY detailed instruction as well as showed him what I was doing the last time I fed them.
9 days into flowering now, most stretching has occurred in the last 4 days, hope it doesn't go too much longer.
Sorry in advance (again) for the hps pics...
Two days ago:
Today:
Couldn't get my stupid phone to show all of the pistils
I got home late monday night...
First thoughts when I opened the tent was after my trip: damn- they stretched a shit load in the 5 days I was gone . On a good note, tons of bud sites- lots of pistils everywhere, they look great.
Today I finally got around to defoliating them, training them, and rotating them. Accidentally creased one of the main stems earlier during training. First time that's happened lol. So I taped some toothpicks around it.
All of these photos are of various stages of when I brought them out of the tent today, then the final one is how they sit now.
Lots of movement even in the last 24 hours. And they haven't been fully fed in a week and a half! Going to take care of that tomorrow, full dose of everything for the first time.
Here's some more pics, we couldn't figure out how to use a friends high tech camera..... so some corner pics here. Another plant started producing resin on its leaves overnight, will try to get better pics of the nicest buds.
Update- I let them go 4 days without any water last week. The time before that I gave a little extra water knowing I was about to do so. Just wanted to switch it up for once and let their leaves droop a smidge. Hopefully the ladies are good to go for the last 6-7 weeks.
Saturday I fed them fully, they loved that so far. Hopefully they stay happy with the 1300ppm. Overall, I was NOT expecting this much growth with a 400w hps. I guess I can say that I'm very happy with my nutrient choice .
These pics are all from today before and after I rotated them. After I took these I tucked some more leaves and will raise the light an inch or two later tonight.
Day 23 of flower:
Something I've never seen before (looks like a double bud site? idk)
VK - One of these has a ton of resin on the leaves already. Way more than the other plants.
THCb - this strain looks to favor one giant main cola, even after trying to spread the plant out.
just wanted to say plants are looking very lush and green buddy. nice job! you may want to defoliate at some point to max out the potential for that light. keep those pictures coming dude.
The ladies spent 2 hours out of the tent today. Have a trash bag full of leaves and stuff I trimmed. All lower junk is gone, and bunch of fan leaves that were in the way of nice bud sites. Noticed some rust on some of the larger fan leaves as well as some ends pointed straight down. But nothing extreme... Hope it goes away after I changed around the tent. Also braced a bunch of buds with various methods as you can see in the pics lol. Then finally rotated them, raised the light 3 inches (one had decent bleaching) and stuffed them back in the tent.
Here's a before and after pic on the blue dragon plant:
Where i live, the water out of tap is 700-800 PPM, i buy R/O water that comes at 76PPM for 15cents a gal & may invest in a home R/O system. i would love to know what the PPM of your water is, think that may be part of it.
