I use a hand held mini microscope... Carson MicroBrite Plus, $15.

My phone camera also works. It has a very good macro lens.

Yea the most I’ve seen them is through my phone or using my dslr camera and zooming in, I still have some white pistils sticking up

You have seen trichomes with your phone or camera? What did they look like?

What you are calling pistils are actually stigmas. Stigmas are the hairs that grow out of the pistils, which is the reproductive part.

Yes, white stigmas are a sign that the bud has a ways to go before harvest. But you need to be able to see the trichomes to know where you're at.

That’s the only resource I have, that’s with a flash, I can’t really turn the purple light off

Very nice trichome production! Looks like a lot of milky ones, but hard to say for sure. I'm not seeing any amber.
