Hey BoBrown!!! Happy New years to you as well :) I hope yours is filled with lots of enjoyment and greener pastures as well :)

Thanks... so far the yield seems to be pretty good, my GSC seems to be the largest yet I've got from 1 plant, and the OGiesel which I have also grown before definitely has much larger cola's than I've seen from past grows...definitely a plus in my book :) I'm very impressed with how these Advanced LED lights performed... Can't wait to run my next set in there :)

Happy 2015 to you!!!!

and thanks for the good kudos :)

Well, first off

HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!!! Welcome 2015, were going to have a great year together :) hopefully filled with fun, health, successes, adventures and many many dank nugs :) haha

Happy 2015 everyone!

Well the humidity lately has really put me in a pickle as far as the grow and the harvest timing... I looked at the next 10 days and it seems that the offshore breeze we are having will keep the desert dryness around for at least another week. I really hate to harvest when the humidity is this low (0-15%) lately because it doesn't allow the buds to break down the chlorophyll fast enough and they end up with that familiar grassy taste we all hate.. hah well a lot of us :)

My dilemma and solution:
I didn't want to let the plants keep growing because they were really taking a hit from the humidity and drying out fast, and I couldn't keep the humidity up past 20% even with humidifier and wet towels, so I decided to harvest all of them. I also didn't want the drying buds to dry out too fast and my drying cabinet only allows for 2-3 plants to dry at a time.. Therefor I have been staggering the harvest/trim/wash for the plants by the day/2days to help add humidity to the drying box, along with constant re-wetting of towels placed in the drying box. This has been keeping the humidity inside the drying box between 48%-58% which is close as I can get it to ideal in this dry spell.

The rest of the plants I chopped down, hung upside down to start the drying process. Since my evaporative humidifier was hardly adding any RH to my apartment, I decided that placing it inside my grow tent with the drying plants would help me control the environment better and keep the RH in check. So far I've managed to keep the RH around 40% which is a little too dry for my liking but it will have to do, and I will be adding wet towels to the tent to bring the RH up more...As the other buds in my drying box dry...then I will place them in jars for curing as well as start trimming and moving these plants over to the dry box.. (unfortunately I don't think i will be able to give the last 3 the budwash this round).

Overall I am extremely pleased with how these buds have turned out... My GSC was the next to trim, harvest and wash and wow... just wow... I have never seen my GSC look this good, and have so many very large buds on the branches. What was very interesting to me is that the buds that were in the very intense light developed a very purple color. My theory on this is that the plants build up the anthocyanin in these buds to shield them from the intense light, which lead to the purple color on some, with the undersides being normal green. Very cool how the plant can react and protect themselves when needed.

Anyhow... here are the photos of the plants chopped and hung in the tent...

Congratulations on your harvests, mate! All look dank. :)

Congrats & Good call on the harvest Ice. You got some really frostylicious meds :thumb::thumb:

Thank you Danishoes!!! yea I was a bit stumped on what to do, but I did want to harvest them anyways, just had to figure out how to keep the humidity up and so far so good :) the drying cabinet/box is constant at around 55% now which is near ideal for my liking and the tent is a little lower at 45-50% which is still ok, better than the 15% in the room :) Thanks for the compliments :) its going to be fun trying these new strains :)

Icemud, Congrats on your your first 2015 harvest! :thumb:

Thanks DrZiggy! such a nice way to start 2015 with some fresh buds drying and the smell of lovely green in the air :)

Congratulations on your harvests, mate! All look dank. :)

Thank you AMK!!! So far I am extremely pleased on how things went and especially for running 4 of these a first time :) definitely cant wait to run them again :)

Quick Veg tent update!!!

So I've been running the other 2x4 tent with the Advanced LED EX-VEG 200 grow lights and with them only at 1/2 power. These lights are doing a very nice job on vegging my plants where I have literally had to cut them down 3x removing 5" or more off the tops to keep them short until my flowering tent is ready.

This has really helped to bush out the plants a lot and they will be ready to put into my flowering tent under the XTE's after the tent is done being used for drying, and cleaned.

I am very impressed with the all blue EX-VEG lights by Advanced, and for only 200w total draw at 1/2 power they have done an amazing job at quickly vegging my plants, with pretty tight nodes :) The one thing though I am still wondering and have yet to test is the brix levels to see if they are at the "norm" for veg because I don't really see the leaf shine that I usually do at this period in the grow.. so I'm still trying to determine if having full spectrum would be a factor in this... regardless they veg the plants very well. I will be checking the brix either tomorrow of the following day to see where they stand.

I am still debating whether to do my V-Scrog in my flowering tent with these girls or just letting them grow how they are. I love doing the scrog but I think that they plants are slightly too big to put under the screen and get the proper scrog effect to work, and I don't want to cut them down and then let them fill the screen which will take another month, so most likely I will just be flowering them as is.

I gave the girls a foliar feeding of R/O water, amaze, PGR, cold pressed seaweed, fish emulsion, carboload and yucca extract today since its been a while since I gave them a foliar feeding, and also hit the soil with a compost tea featuring yucca extract and bubbled premixed soil. The leaves under normal light look slightly Mg defficient so we will see where they sit after this feeding and I may need to add some epsom to the next batch to help the mg uptake.

Here are the photos of the girls in veg....
