Strain: Pineapple Chunk from @Barney's Farm

Tent: 2.4m x 1.2 x 2m

Lights:
220w T5 light for seedling/early veg
2x 600w HPS for late veg and flower.

Growing medium: Soil All Mix

Pots: 25litre fabric pots will be the final home for these.

With my last grow coming to an end I’ve gone ahead and started 10 Pineapple chunk seeds. I was close to getting these last time out but my local didn’t have enough in stock. Anyone who saw my last journal will see I grew 3 different strains, this wasn’t planned it just kind of happened and for me it was a nightmare. With work commitments I’m not always around so finding time to water can be difficult. 3 different strains has meant they all seem to drink water at entirely different rates, so while I water each plant every 3-4 days trying to follow Emilya’s watering guide, I’ve ended up still watering daily, just different plants each day. This has been difficult and at time’s the plants have suffered with either being watered early knowing I won’t be around, or dried out a bit too much.

The previous grows before have always been the same strain, in fact both were GZ. While they were all slightly different in heights and widths, they all seemed to keep up in regards to watering. So hopefully this grow will be similar.

Again, maybe running before I could walk I decided to give mainlining a try or whatever you wish to call it, this was quite unsuccessful. I broke plenty of stems, caused splits and seriously slowed down the growth of the plants. The simple guide from Nebula seemed easy enough, but unfortunately it didn’t go to plan. With this grow I’ll be Vegging in a small space until the tent is free, once in the tent I’ll be flipping to flower in 2 weeks or so. Giving a total of around 6 weeks Veg. I may top, only if the plants are healthy.

I only plan to top the plant to try and create a somewhat even canopy. I may even add some supercropping if I feel it’s necessary. At the time of flip I’ll be doing a heavy defoliation, and again at 21 days into flower, with the possibility of lollipopping.

I may scrog if I manage to make something by the time it’s required. While I’m still doing some training on this grow, I feel it’s a lot less than the last one and hopefully it should give me more of a feel on when to train to ensure a quick bounce back and a quick recovery.

If anyone has any guides on transplanting I’d appreciate any links being posted, I seem to have a really long recovery time when transplanting and id be happy to check over some guides.

10 out of 10 popped their heads up today.

I’m using Dutch Pro nutrients. I’ve started off with ph water which is always kept between 5.8-6.5.

For the first feed they received 1ml per litre of Multi total which I believe is for the soil and 2ml per litre of take root, which by the name I believe is for the roots.

I will start using A&B at around 2 weeks, I imagine CalMag will be added at around the same time which will be 2ml per litre, I often start this early as my plants seem to suffer from a deficiency early on. I’ll also be using Explode through out flower.

I buy 10 seeds but only put 8 in the tent, unfortunately I lost 1. Not sure why but the stem at the top shrivelled up and it died. Maybe I forgot to add water to that particular one, who knows. Oh well, now means I just have to leave one out of the tent.

Day 5 Seedling.

After losing 1 seedling I got rid of another as it wasn’t growing so well, thought I’d take @oldsmokey advice and use the extra room for the others. I only grow an extra 2 mainly for the germination process in case not all work.

The plants are being fed with PH Water, take root every other feeding and multi total once every 2 weeks. Everything is looking great. The light is a tad higher than usual because I’m trying to promote a little bit of height compared to my usual plants, so far it seems to be working.

They are being fed 1 litre between all 8 at the moment, I’m hoping to bring that up to 1 litre a day within the next few days. Once done I’ll up it to 2 litres every 2 days and so on.

Thanks man, glad with how they are coming along so far. Also forgot to mention, I’m running 24 hour lighting. Trying to compare growth to my last grow, seeing if it makes any difference. Once they go into tent under the 2 hps it’ll be 18 hour.

Yeah I got lucky this time round, had a call once they were in stock and he held some back for me. Last time I tried getting these and they didn’t have any.

These will only be short vegged as trying to do this grow a bit quick. Will he 5-6 week max.

Things are still looking really good. Smaller cups are drinking more than the 6 others in slightly bigger pots, was expecting this to happen, but I suspect within a week or so the 6 in the bigger pots will overtake the 2 in the red cups. For me it’s just a little test to see whether I should start in the black pots or red cups for each grow. I am however concerned of overwatering easier in the black pots.

I’ve had the light a few inches higher on this grow, mainly to avoid any light burn as ive had this a few times and see a slow down through this stage. I was also hoping to see a little more height on the plant, which I believe is working.

Hey everyone.

Noticed a couple days ago one of the red cup plants seemed to have some larger looking leaves. Plus I thought it seemed a slight discoloured. Suspecting it may be on the verge of overwatering I held off watering to give it a good dry. I’ve kept the plants quite moist through out the seedling stage, but as I can see roots coming through the bottom of the pots I’m trying to start a good wet dry cycle.

My suspicions seemed correct, plant is drooping slightly and has started to discolour a bit more. All the plants are on the same nutrient line which is just take root and ph water at the moment, with their age and how hot the soil is, I don’t expect it to be a deficiency due to lack of nutrients.

Plant does look wet in picture, but note it was 100% fully dried out before I watered it then took the picture. I still weigh the plants at this stage, and realised the pot got 50g+ lighter than when I watered it last time. I do have another looking a little chunky on the leaf, so I’m just ensuring all are now on a full wet dry cycle.

First picture is the overwatered plant.

With the tent finally being free, I thought it was time to transfer the plants into larger pots and get them in their. With this grow I only had 6 black pots and I wanted to see which would grow best, the black pots or the red cups. The black pots are twice the size of the red cups and after 3 weeks it was a noticeable difference with the black pot plants being almost twice the size.

Thanks man, I took a lot more time and gave them all attention. I usually check 1, if it’s dry they all get watered. I knew it was lazy and wrong but sometimes I just haven’t got the time. Made sure each one got the individual attention and glad to see it paid off.

10 days later from being transplanted into the final pot and tent. Plants are looking perfect, watering has always been somewhat of an issue for me, and I’ve spent so much time trying to resolve problems. I finally feel it’s just simple now. I’ve established a solid dry/wet cycle and I’m checking with soil moisture probes rather than weighing the pots.
Plants are getting through 5 litres every 3-4 days so far which I’m happy with. I plan to veg until Sunday, so 5 weeks of veg total.

The strain is a relatively short indica so I don’t plan to top. I’ll be doing a defoliation Sunday and another 21 days after flip. This is the only training these plants are getting.

Plants are getting 3ml per litre of A&B each feed, 1ml of take root every other feed and 1ml of multi total once every 2 weeks. Cal mag is every feed 0.2-0.3ml per litre. All nutrients are DutchPro.

With the UK facing this crazy heatwave temperatures are high in the tent. With it being so rare I haven’t purchased an AC I’ve just left the plants to deal with it, I have seen some heat stress signs but it seems we are coming to an end on the heat wave so I hope the leaves start to flatten back out a bit.
