Not about how much light, about the dark

Learning as I grow... Hearing...& Believe... gro room must be light tight. Just found out why...not about how much or little light triggers bloom...about how much dark.

Walk with me here...yeah, still trying to get my head around this molecular stuff...if plant gets light (especially red..700n) during dark cycle, protein responsible for flowering 'resets', so plant thinks it's light again until real light then dark again cycle. This messes with the plant's photo cycle as it's triggered into 'daytime' mode despite dark time. In reality, no light for photosynthesis so plant not growing & confused about light cycle so not putting energy into flower.

Kind of a nerd, geek... probably drove my folks crazy asking questions. Taking free class on Coursera on plant bio...good instructor...

An occasional light/dark interruption for a few minutes won't cause problems, but a chronic interruption certainly can cause issues.

I recently installed a humidifier in my grow tent. Unfortunately, it came with a built in night light (in the main dial). I put a piece of duct tape over it.

Simple problems. Simple solutions.
