If you can, use the lowest N-P-K ratio soil you can find. Mix perlite and mericulite into the soil and even peatmoss. Orchid moss is a good substitute. A watering schedule including liquid nutes closer towards maturity will benefit you. I would def. suggest fox farms nutes. Cheap and effective. Wait until you have a stable plant before you use strong nutes.

an organic mixture with cow manure and compost with a .5/.5/.5 NPK ratio. Easy to find at any Wally World, Tar'ghet, or Lowies. The manure adds a decent amount of Nitrogen.

Also, the nutrients in cow manure are gentle on your plants.

yeah hes had it for over 10 years so it should be rich and tasty and not so chemically juiced for the plant
