Behind The Times

I am a medically retired veteran who served 20 years in the Aussie military. Our medico's and government are way behind the times when it comes to the use of medicinal canabis. I know our VA is starting to accept prescriptions for pain, but it is a long drawn out process when it comes to PTSD. I recently moved states and am only now finding a general practitioner to prescribe to me, then once that is done, I have to then go through another path to have it accepted by our VA.

How can so called intelligent doctors ignore proof? My pain specialist (not anymore) believes it is a load of rubbish and cannabis does not work. My psych is trying to be recognised as a prescriber, he grew up in India where it grows wild he says, and has been used for centuries.

I actually grew my own once and would do so again but was raided and haven't been in the system for a while.

From my understanding I need to grow two differnet strains. I need one to allowme to function daily but treat my PTSD, and one to take at night so I don't need sleeping tablets or opioids.

Can anyone advise me of a decent strain that will either treat both PTSD and chronic pain, or two different strains. I will probably have to grow in a greenhouse but would probably

I'm no expert but a UK vet. I'd say a sativa or sativa leaning hybrid for during the day to stay uplifted and focused. Then a strong indica for bedtime. I'd also consider growing a CBD strain too. Some seedbanks you can search strains by what effects you want.

Night time I would have a good indica that's been grown with a lot of amber trichomes so has plenty of CBN and mix it with a strong CBD. Should sleep like a log then.

Oh and thanks for your service brother. There's quite a few vets in here.

Black Domina (Sensi Seeds) was known as a powerhouse Indica for years (and probably still is), sort of like a pseudo narcotic. If that can't put you down, make hash/oil/etc. out of it, take two, and call me late tomorrow morning when you finally manage to crawl out of bed (lol). Kali Mist (Serious Seeds) used to be a high-quality old-school sativa, not pure, but upwards of 90% sativa / 10% indica. I don't know whether it still is, as things have been known to change over time and sometimes that's because someone decides to "improve" it by muddying the genetics with indica. But it's probably a good one to try. Or something like Strawberry Cough (Dutch Passion) if you're looking for one that's more "pleasant" than "powerful," although it seems to be powerful enough for some. It also finishes faster and (if I remember correctly) tends to give higher yields. Although for personal head med, between the two, I'd visit the lady Kali. But like any treatment for mental things, it might not be the worst idea in the world to have more than one possibility in the medicine cabinet in case one that works today... fails to work tomorrow.

If it'd been me, I'd have kept the government out of it, especially when it came to dealing with issues of the mind. I've seen too many friends end up being, IDK, a pshrink's game board (so to speak) Repairing the mind is not like stitching up a wound or setting a broken leg. Well, I guess you know that. And I've never been in a hurry to volunteer to put my name on a government list. It's probably already ended up on a few without my knowledge ;) . We live in different countries, however. Therefore it might not matter, if - for example - yours is compartmentalized in such a way that your police do NOT have access to any medical-related cannabis databases. And, if the situation ever takes a turn for the worse and medicinal-use cannabis becomes verboten again (or you try to get legal access and fail), if the government completely and permanently "forgets" that you were ever involved with cannabis. My government only ever seems to forget things that it ought to remember, so... you know... f*ck 'em.

Durban Poison for your daytime smoke, wakes you up. It’s known to help with ADHD, Migraines, and PTSD... I can vouch for it helping with my PTSD so that’s my recommendation for your day time strain. As for your night time strain, I too suffer from insomnia and chronic pain. (I refuse to take narcotic painkillers of any kind.) The strain Black Domina is a K.O. strain that is guaranteed to put you to sleep and it’s one of the best body highs I’ve ever had for pain as well so that’s my night time recommendation for you. A good evening smoke would be Blueberry or Berry Bomb, great for pain and relaxing but won’t put you to sleep.
