Re: Cold Summer,,should i yank

Those are some gorgeous buds!! I really hope you are able to harvest them. Sorry I don't have anything in the form of advice. For someone that may be able to offer some, can you say how tall they are? I'm thinking summer was non existent of the entire Western Hemisphere. In the Northeast US, summer was very mild and rainy as well. Best of luck!

Re: Cold Summer,,should i yank

oh and they may have had a late start june 14 till now,,, oct 11 would be 120 days,, but ill never make it to that

Re: Cold Summer,,should i yank

Just a random guess, but the browning of the tips on the top, might that be from wind burn? Is moving them indoors or to a greenhouse an option? Maybe even build a green house on site with a black tarp floor to attract heat/light?

Re: Cold Summer,,should i yank

The bottom line is that you won't know if they're "ready" until you can take a look at the Trichomes and see what they look like. Clear: still developing; milky: highest THC they'll be at; Amber: THC turning to CBD and so on... It depends on what you want in your finished product. The THC is gonna' degrade over time anyway, so I harvest at the first signs of Amber and then only take the milky tops and leave any clear to mature a few days more.
Temps? most strains can tolerate down into the 50*'s (F) but will show stunting. Temps aren't your worry 1/2 as much as rain.
The advice to move them indoors would be my best advice too and get a magnifying glass so at the least, you can actually see the Trichomes and their colors.

Re: Cold Summer,,should i yank

12/12 hasn't been going on for very long in your area so you have a nice batch of buds with that being considered. I would say watch out for the frost..It will freeze there soon and you don't want the plants to die from frost...Check Trich's asap and harvest before frost. Good grow...

Re: Cold Summer,,should i yank

thanks for all the help and advise,, I may try the straw on soil.,, cant really build something around it as its 20 feet from road,, way to easy to see, Cant bring indoors as I dont do that, and no "equip" for em,, someday i hope as that seems much more enjoyable,, less travel less heat ,no heli's in my house etc, etc,, as for the wind, can wind really kill or destroy the plant, once mature not seedlings,, oh and ill try and get a pocket microscope or can i just use a random home type magnifier glass? oh does the purple mean to much wind? Is there not to many variables,, i thought they were pinkish purple because there no where near ready

Re: Cold Summer,,should i yank

She looks good to me but i would get a microscope jus to see how close she is from being pulled. I havent tied this but, could u put some compost around the tubs to generate some heat around the roots? Not sure if thatll help but in my head it sounds like it Would lol. Good luck

same principle as hay and straw (decompostition creates heat), but green compost can burn our plant much easier than hay can ;)

Re: Cold Summer,,should i yank

I think Blazinazn was saying to put the compost outside the tub just for the heat to form a barrier around the tub. Sounds like a logical idea.

Re: Cold Summer,,should i yank

Can you put up some type of blind between her and the road , you could then cover at night to protect from frost.
Nice looking lady.
Good luck

Re: Cold Summer,,should i yank

piling random brush around her would probably be a good idea and all the materials needed are everywhere

As Gigabane said! Pack dry straw, dry leaves and then think about putting fleece around the base + cotton fabric around the stem. As long as they don't die I'd keep going at least for the next 3-4 weeks.

@roguerbones,

It looks like you have some very good, cheap and easy to find solutions to your current problem. With that said, i hope you honor these great people with some beautiful bud porn when you harvest those beauties in a few weeks. I'm routing for you and hope you have 100% success.
