Hey, on my second grow and looking for feed back. From everything I've gathered I should be good to start drying in about 10 days is my thinking but not totally sure.
stopped nutes on week 6 and straight water when pot is dry. 600 hps growing in soil with ph balanced nutes and a couple additives that were recommended.

Hi Mrinter, buds look sweet! Good work getting there. How are you judging their doneness?

There's a few ways to tell. Looking at the pistols is one. They get mostly brown or red and shriveled when they are done.

Looking at trichomes with a 40 to 60 x loop is another. Trichomes start clear, turn milky white, then amber brownish. People read the stages and know where in the stages of doneness they are. For instance. Clear trichs are early and have a certain high. Racy monkey brained high tends to be linked to clear trichs. Milky = less racy but max thc I think. Amber = more powerful couchlock kind of high. We get to know how we like our high by testing at different stages of the above.

That's 2 ways, there's others. I like looking at trichomes

Thanks for the information, I had been wondering about harvesting at different stages or times as you speak of cause I read in a few other sections that quote: I like to harvest on day 53 because...I like to harvest on day 56...so on so forth.
From what I’ve gathered each plant is different but the same, typically the plant is done on day 63 with mixed reviews of course...then it’s up to the genetics as to how you care for it and so on..rule of thumb I was told is when it stops drinking she’s finished..
Like I said I’m only a novice on my second grow and welcome insight, thanks

Plants are done when they are done. 63 days means nothing. Some sativa strains will bloom for 12 weeks before being ripe. Add in the veg time and it may take several months from sprout to harvest.
I new I was going to get ripped on the 63 day...yes it’s according to a lot of variables

Take breeder time lines with a grain of salt. They are very optimistic and are a best case scenario. If you grow in DWC plants will take even longer. Auto breeders will tell you 60-70 days from sprout, I can't seem to finish them in under 100 days either.

Including Grow they would be on day 96, so definetly going to take over 100 days from start.
