Discolored leaves still photosynthesing?

Just wondering if these purplish fan leaves on my girl are still producing 02 or are just draining nutes from other parts? I have in the past cut them off very slightly and only when obviously dead. Considering to perhaps be a little more aggressive with removal. It’s Strawberry Cheesecake from Seedsman and doing very nicely in flower.

Toss up a pic in natural light. I saw a few of those plants with some beautiful fall colors.

Anthocyanins are the chemical that makes your leaves purple. This is also found in other plants such as grapes. It is especially brought out by cold temperatures.
