First Ever Closet Grow Using a 300 Watt CFL - a Bit of Skill and a Lot of Luck!

Re: First Ever Closet Grow Using a 300 Watt CFL, a Bit of Skill and a Lot of Luck!

Hey mcloadie, thanks man you should see them now! new pics on sunday/monday (when they get let out :) I can't seem to get a decent pic in the grow room so I take some every watering which is every 9 days at present. I'm doing water, 1/4 strength nutes, water, 1/4 strength nutes, water. That's as far as I have got with watering. Do you think I should increase strength to 1/2 for the next feed?
Many thanks.

Ya dube, I would go to 1/2, but water twice, then feed. You usin molasses? Try given em a little less water and see if you can get it down to at least 4 or 5 days between watering.

Nice one mate that seems sweet. No just grow and bloom. So would it be nute, water, water, nute, water, water? Then when should I go full strength because they've only got about 8 weeks left?

Re: First Ever Closet Grow Using a 300 Watt CFL, a Bit of Skill and a Lot of Luck!

as far as harvest goes I do have some thoughts on that and this is the way I do it. many will differ
as far as when? when I like it. the buzz of course, how the trichs look and generaly if she looks like she is ready. which is a learning curve all its own. LOL
I think the best way to determin that part is to take a sample see if you are happy with what you got. you should have about a 4or5 day window there after that it starts to be something else with remanints of before. cloudy trichs make for happy got to do something buzz and amber is nevermind I will do that later buzz.
I do subject them to a 24hr dark period before chop. chop in the morning schedual.
I trim as soon as I chop and dry after. some folks do the oppisite but either way I hang the buds for about 1 week in a cool dry place where I can still keep air movement. after 4 days I take a bud with a fair size stem and see if it snaps but not break clean. that is dry enough for me to the jar they go. after that just open your jars every day and move the buds from top to bottom for 15minutes each time for about 2 weeks poof cured buds:)
also know that you have them dried, cured and ready to store look into humidi paks. they use them at cigar stores to keep cigars at just the right stage. me? a 62% humidi pak will keep your grass tasty for as long as it lasts.
hope this helps you ND:circle-of-love:

Great advice mate thanks. So your saying to store it in a jar or a humidi pack? I hope I get enough for 2 jars :)

Re: First Ever Closet Grow Using a 300 Watt CFL, a Bit of Skill and a Lot of Luck!

hey brother I mean you store in a glass jar make sure you use glass not plastic. plastic has pours in it that will get all that surgar on your buds to stick to it and you will have a heck of a time getting it back so glass is a must.
the humidi pac is put in the jar with your cured stash and will help maintain the right conditons to keep your buds fresh and tasty.
they are not a must have but if you get enough harvest it will help keep your smoke till you are ready to use it:)

Re: First Ever Closet Grow Using a 300 Watt CFL, a Bit of Skill and a Lot of Luck!

Nice one guys for all the sweet comments, I've had no computer for at least a week so no updates until now.
Day 76 of flower, most leaves are turning yellow and dying off nicely. Have reduced water to a couple of litres every 5/6 days alteranting nutes and water. The smell is like bubble gum. The temperature is a little above 80 in the day and just below 70 at night but they seem to be absolutely loving it. The humidity is high at around 55%-66% although when they dry up it reduces significantly. I am trying hard to hold out on buying a dehumidifier but i'm worried i won't get properly dry buds if i don't get one.
Pictures in the next few days. Many many thanks for sticking around, it means a lot :p

Re: First Ever Closet Grow Using a 300 Watt CFL, a Bit of Skill and a Lot of Luck!

Yeah same maye, good to have you back and happy 420, cant wait to see your ladies now. You dont need a dehumidifier to dry buds mate, just a dark place with a little air flow. I dont even have air flow tbh, just open the door and look at them and they dry fine.

Hmm something tells me i should have maybe used a couple of canes for support. The "baby", (far right) which is a week younger than the other two is literally going to snap if I'm not careful. I'll remember for the future, my bad.
