Heavens Shores - Bill's 2022 Grow: Come Meet Howie! Show Us Your Grow Too - Bring A Pic

Best of luck Sir
Hey Greg :ciao: hope you are well my friend.
I was fighting mites and a storm at the same time.
Busy feken day.
How is your garden doing?

Stay safe
Bill

Coarse perlite on top of the air pots :thumb: Mites or pests doesn't like to dig into that
Good morning Verb :ciao: hope everything is going well with your garden.
I apologize for not being more diligent helping with your issues.
Between mites and everything else going on I'm stretched pretty thin.
That perlite is for drainage, nbut the Frass will help keep critters out of the soil.
I got up at 2:30 so I could type up a tutorial.
But there were 174 notifications and I haven't caught up yet.
And today is going to be nuts again.
Talk soon my friend.

Stay safe:cool:
Bill

Sprinkle a good amount of
Bokashi Frass and @DYNOMYCO
on top of the soil wet it well
Then mix thoroughly

20220615_162659.jpg

I use large size Perilite when possible

20220615_163217.jpg

Because it's soil this time
I used
Earth's Alive Soil Activator

20220615_163409.jpg

Spray bottle contains
mild @Remo Nutrients
Superthrive
Roots Excelurator Gold
And
Plant Ammendment Concentrate
with water

BILL 284 METHOD

HOW TO FILL AND USE AIR POTS

First is a light layer of perlite
Just enough to cover the plastic base

Screenshot_20220617-065229_Gallery.jpg

Sprinkle the new perilite with
@DYNOMYCO
Bokashi
Insect Frass

Screenshot_20220617-071226_Gallery.jpg

Mist to activate
Then sprinkle soil on top of the perlite
Then sprinkle perlite on top of the soil
Add @DYNOMYCO Bokashi & Frass
Mist to activate
Repeat until you reach the right height
Layers should get thicker as you get higher in the pot
leave enough room for a solo cup minus 1 inch

Screenshot_20220617-070639_Gallery.jpg

Make sure your solo cup is 1 inch taller than the pot

Screenshot_20220617-072903_Gallery.jpg

This is necessary for proper watering and drainage

Screenshot_20220617-072738_Gallery.jpg

You want to have perlite directly under the roots
Sprinkle your amendments and mist to activate

Screenshot_20220617-072520_Gallery.jpg

Don't miss this opportunity
Sprinkle @DYNOMYCO directly on your roots
Now we are ready to place our cup of roots

If your roots don't hold together well
you can use a cut solo cup to do the job
Sprinkle your amendments in the crack
Then pour in liquid to disburse them to the roots

Screenshot_20220617-093541_Gallery.jpg

Set you cup in the center on top of the perlite
Then add a layer of soil around it
Then more perlite and amendments
Layering all the way to the top

Screenshot_20220617-093800_Gallery.jpg

Stop with a layer of soil at the top

Screenshot_20220617-094253_Gallery.jpg

Misting activates the microbes

Screenshot_20220617-094404_Gallery.jpg

Cut the rim and slip the cup out

Screenshot_20220617-094532_Gallery.jpg

You should be left with a mound in the center
and a moat on the outside edge

Screenshot_20220617-094926_Gallery.jpg

Push the perlite down around the outside edge

Screenshot_20220617-095327_Gallery.jpg

Making a natural drain around the outside edge of your pot

Screenshot_20220617-095707_Gallery.jpg

Sprinkle a light layer of dirt on top to hold everything in place

Screenshot_20220617-100106_Gallery.jpg

Gentley pat down the dirt leaving a mound in the center
and a drain around the perimeter

Once it's full pat down the dirt

Screenshot_20220617-121257_Gallery.jpg

Pat down the top making a depression around the outside edge
And a mound in the center
Perfect for watering and root development

Screenshot_20220617-121410_Gallery.jpg

Perfect for watering
Water automatically goes to the outside edge
Difficult to overwater due to Perilite layers holding air

Screenshot_20220617-121427_Gallery.jpg

Screenshot_20220617-121442_Gallery.jpg

Always water to run off
Give the roots a reason
to chase it to the bottom

Screenshot_20220617-121706_Gallery.jpg

Top quality nutrients are important

Screenshot_20220617-122045_Gallery.jpg

I am using week 8 of the veg / chart
2 ML / Litre of
MAGNIFICAL / MICRO / GROW / VELOKELP

Screenshot_20220617-122922_Gallery.jpg

Marinating needle is handy for measuring your nutrients
Also for watering solo cups
Get one

Screenshot_20220617-123215_Gallery.jpg

I only mixed 8 Litres this time
16 ml of each veg nutrient

Screenshot_20220617-123322_Gallery.jpg

It will spil over the edge first time you water
So go very slow at first
But when you have to water 25 or 30 ladies at once
The mound and drain will make perfect watering
every time a breeze

So what is the point of air pots? How are they different from other plastic pots?

edit: accidental blank post, crap. Sorry, morning hotdog fingers.
Good morning R.D. :ciao:
Must have been all the ketchup.
How are you doing today my friend?

You know those easzplugs coco plugs you use are amazing, esp. that whole interlocking system they use. I'm amazed they can keep the right amount of moisture with no perlite or anything. You just add the next larger coco shape as plant grows. I believe all their claims about perfect moisture all the time, they're Dutch, culturally incapable of knowingly misrepresenting themselves in agri/horticulture. The potential for shame outweighs any gain.

As TelveCoffee would say, don't forget to hydrate!

The term the Bill 284 method was coined by a dear friend of mine @Bud Love .
He asked how I grew such big healthy plant all the time.
So he checked out my Gorilla Glue clone thread and used the method I laid out.
Well if he didn't grow these great big healthy girls.
He said I just love the " Bill284 Method " it works so well.
From then on we just referred to it as the Bill284 Method.
Since my buddy is no longer here with us :( I kept the name as a reminder of him.
He is dearly missed.

So what is the point of air pots? How are they different from other plastic pots?
maxresdefault.jpg
Air pots work by allowing more air to access the soil, making the roots chase the holes, eventually, once the roots try to expose themselves to the light they will self-prune. They allow your roots to branch much more as if they were already in the ground, and best of all, no root binding!
Every tree and most plants in the cities are now required to be in air-pots, as they're so much better for the root systems, and wellbeing of those plants, have you ever tried to put a root-bound tree inside the ground? (I haven't, but I'm sure it'd most likely spiral itself to death) x'D
Also less up-potting required!

I'm a little worried myself.
I'll cull the worst ones down to a manageable number.
I ran around 55 consistently in coco much more work.
But they didn't live in a sauna.
And I had a 700 L capacity watering system set and everything streamlined.:morenutes::surf:
So I thought this would be a breeze in soil.
I've got a 3' x 6' screened vent in each end of the greenhouse.
But I stole Stacey's fan as soon as I walked into the greenhouse.
Brutally freeeken hot.
I've got an old 6 " inline fan I'll hook up though.
Blowing in right at the work bench.
Hopefully I'll get some work done today, its freeken cold today.
I mean I'm thinking about turning the heat pump on cold, fek.
Stacey had to go out to the greenhouse and get her fan at 1:00 Am last night.
She never even mentioned it to me this morning. :green_heart:
How many wires would do that? Hands up I thought so. Hehe
I only use the first two steps of the easy plug system, then into coco air pots.
But they will easily hold excessive amounts of water if you don't know what your doing.
Once they are in coco it's fine
The pyramid system looked interesting, but I moved my plants from room to room when needed so it wasn't viable.
Glad your having a good day.
Where did you score the seeds?

Combine AIR POTS - COCO - BILL284 METHOD

And you have the growth rate of D.W.C. with the convenience of a
portable container grow system.
Easy to water and use, especially for novice growers.
With out the need for the knowledge to run a D.W.C. system.
Basic knowledge of mixing a jug when required.
Guaranteed better results than any basic bag or plastic pot Grow.
Healthier plants that will give you better results come harvest time.
Healthy plants are harder to kill for novice growers.
And the difficulty to completely over water your girls is gone aswell,
good for new growers.
A basic wait time in soil is all that is required.
After a couple days she is recharging the air in her self.
But there will always be air trapped in the perlite layers.
It's almost foolproof and when run correctly can produce a maximum harvest from any girl growing in her.
It's going to revolutionize container growing.
Air pots get on board. :surf:
