When do i know to start to raise my lights I was 18 now 12

12" is a little close, watch your plants, if they show signs of leaf burn, or bleaching, then raise them. The lights should of come with instructions for how high above the plants they should be. Generally it's between 12" and 30" for 600 watts, depending on the brand of light.
