Killing Fields + Berry Bomb - Organic LED - Soil Hempy Bucket Vs. Air Pots

Hello my fellow 420 brothers and sisters. My first grow went pretty badly but I am determined to have a better outcome this time and I am almost certain I will as I've gone organic which should make things easier for me. My last grow had a heap of problems but those shall be a thing of the past with a bit of luck!

Before I go any further let me introduce to you the strains I'll be growing,

Killing Fields Fem x 2

Type: mostly sativa dominant
Flowering Time: 11-12 weeks
Harvest: Up to 700 gram/m2(indoor)
Taste: Very fruity but with a powerful petrol smell
Effect: A strong and long lasting high effect
Flowers: Big and dense
THC: Up to 22%

I saw Casa Verde's KF grow and fell in love with those buds. Casa Verde if you ever see this how was the smoke?

Bomb Seeds - Berry Bomb Fem x1

Plant Height: Medium (90-140cm)
Indoor Flowering: 6-8 Weeks
Harvest Outdoor: Sep-Oct
THC: High (15-20%)
Yield: High (500-600g/m²)
Stoned/High: Classic Indica stone

Nirvana Seeds - Auto Blue Mystic Fem x 1

Yield: 200 - 300
Effect: Stoney
Grow height: Low
Flowering weeks: 5 / 7 weeks

I plan to grow one of the KF in a 20L Air Pot and another in a 20L Soil Hempy bucket. I'm not sure how well the hempy bucket hybrid will work but I won't know till I've tried it! ;)

For nutes I will be using the Sannie Bio Range which includes Buffertabs, Bacto, Symbiosis and an organic bloom fertilizer for flowering. I'll be using the same nutes throughout this grow.

Hardware:
GL120 (4ft x 4ft x 6ft) grow tent with 5" In Line extraction - 310 m3/hour/carbon filter (Arriving 16/05)
150W 5-Spectrum LED 3W chip (90W power consumption)
504W 7-Spectrum LED 3W chip (285-300w power consumption - Arriving 17/05)

I've never had a grow tent before as my only previous grow was a wardrobe grow with PC case fans for ventilation so please someone tell me if I've missed something.

Right now the four seeds are germinating in Sponge pots with added bacto and placed 2ft below my 90W LED under a 24/0 cycle where they've been for a few hours now. Hopefully in few days they'll be ready to be transplanted into 1L Air pots before being finally transplanted into their final pots when the time comes. The germination process is taking place in an almost air tight wardrobe which was used for my first grow. What I am most amazed about is the LEDs. The heat signature from my unit which is outputting 150W is virtually non-existent in this small enclosed space - worlds away from the heat my 120W CFL was producing in the same space. This is only a temporary residence for the seeds however until the tent arrives.

Mediums:

KF Fem seed 1 - Soil Hempy Bucket 20L

Bottom 2" - 80% hydroton balls / 20% Perlite
2" and above - 40% Perlite / 60% Soil

KF Fem seed 2 - Air Pot 20L

30% Perlite - 70% Soil

Berry Bomb - 20L Air Pot

30% Perlite - 70% Soil

Auto Blue Mystic - 15L Air Pot

30% Perlite - 70% Soil

I'm taking bets on the Soil hempy buckets effectiveness, you guys reckon it will work or fail? Regardless I love a little experiment. Any suggestions on anything in my grow please let me know!

Peace,
HG!

Thanks dude, I've got a good feeling about this one. Every report I've read on this strain has been kick ass as with most of Sannies strains so I'm not worried about the genetics. I'll let you know how it smokes in 3 months and a bit... ;)

sweet, subbed =] always interested to watch other LED grows!

Awesome to have you on board, been following your journal for a while as I've been fascinated by LED technology for growing. My initial impressions are great, but only time will tell really. I'm just super impressed with the lack of heat this thing produces, the fans do a terrific job! I think I might need to add a CFL in there for the night so the seedlings don't get too cold.

Welcome to :420:

I'm sub'd very interested in seeing how your berry Bomb grows.
I have 8 plants currently in veg. They are getting bushy. Dont be alarmed at what I'm
going to say, but you need to know about the deformities in the Berry Bomb. I personally
will not use an unstable strain for breeding.

Here is a few pics so you can tell, or have a look at my journal link in my signature.

Missing main leaf configuration. had 3 others with missing leaf formations or to many.
If this is your first time with Berry Bomb (Bomb Seeds) you should know that they are not as sensitive to the nutes as stated in the info on the seeds. However, that being said The plant shows alot, and I mean alot of initial stretch the 1st 3 weeks. I discouraged the initial growth spurt as much as possible. They will have a great deal more stretch in flower. So to keep the stalk from needing support I kept my lights very low. Mine are now at 51 days from seed. Be gentle on the nutes they do tend to burn a bit unless you keep them at 1/4 of the dose. I am using BPN 3 part Elite.

Hope to see more in the future. Good Luck and Happy growing.

Thanks for the much needed advice on the strain dude. I may dedicate the 90W LED to the Berry Bomb and use the 300W LED to grow the KF + Autos. That gives me a bit of independence and mobility in regards to the heights of the lights.

However another dilemma is that KF requires a very short veg period due to its crazy stretch in flowering, I don't think I'll be able to veg her for as long as you have with your Berry Bomb. I'll have to find a veg period which suits both KF and the Berry Bomb.

Casa Verde how long would you recommend vegging in this situation?

HG be carefull with he kf she is a light feeder and likes to be topped or fimmed .

Good Luck again !

This will be my first time attempting FIM or any kind of technique for that matter and my hands are getting unsteadier by the day with my ongoing health problems but I'm sure it'll turn out fine ;)

Re: Killing Fields + Berry Bomb - Organic LED - Soil Hempy Bucket vs Air Pots

Crongrats on the new tent, just set up mine yesterday and love the larger space. Hope it helps solve the last probs you had. :peace:

Nice to hear from you man, my tent should be here sometime next week - im sure it'll be awesome. If I remember correctly you grow for med reason, if so hope the healths been good to you. :peace:

Re: Killing Fields + Berry Bomb - Organic LED - Soil Hempy Bucket vs Air Pots

Thank you, Yeah for chronic back and leg pain. It's all good, a little pain lets you know you still breathing. I'm sure you'll love the tent, would have cost me 2X more to stick build a room that size and only took minutes to set up. RH went sky high but a $23 tube-axial exhaust fan from amazon fixed it right quick. Best of luck with it, :peace:

Yeah that is something I quickly realised when looking at the price of materials, and then there is the effort of putting it together in my state with my chronic fatigue. I'm hoping to be diagnosed with something on Wednesday when I see my specialist, all I know is that I have a sky high rheumatoid factor so I probably have one of a heap of auto-immune diseases linked to positive RF. I have a feeling it might be RA as my joints are killing me and i'm getting worse daily... I'm hoping to make some Simpson Oil some time in the near future.

Once I get the tent set up with the ventilation i'll have to consult my hygrometer (which is still in the post from China but looks pretty kickass!) and hopefully everything will be good!

Back to the grow - The Blue Mystic Automatic was the quickest starter. She's already peeking her head out of the trench, helmet still on looking fantastic but my one concern is her root, which is coming through the bottom of the spongepot. Correct me if im wrong but wont this root will shrivel up without moisture? I may get a kitty litter tray and put some perlite in there and water gentle and then place the spongepots on top.

Re: Killing Fields + Berry Bomb - Organic LED - Soil Hempy Bucket vs Air Pots

My Berry Ryder Automatic by the seed bank Auto and Short Stuff's Auto Blue Himalaya seeds arrived today so I began germinating them. There are 6 ladies in my nursery now and I gotta say the spongepots are really the business. I've never germinated so quickly, I think it's the Bacto which is added that makes the real difference.

I'm going to use the autos as space fillers and some of the ones I've selected finish within 65 days from seed. That way I get a couple nice harvests whilst I wait for the KF and Berry Bomb to finish. Berry Ryder is in fact Berry Bomb x Ruderalis so it'll be interesting to see them grow aside each other.

Re: Killing Fields + Berry Bomb - Organic LED - Soil Hempy Bucket vs Air Pots

A quick update,

- Grow tent ordered, I had to change the size to a 165cm x 65cm x 180cm tent. It should be here on Monday so i'll have to clean up the loft a bit in preparation.
- In the absence of my hygrometer from China which still hasn't arrived I decide to buy one from the £ store. I don't know I wasted money on importing a swish looking one this little thing is great and only £1!
- I moved the Blue Mystic Auto, two Killingfields and Berry Bomb into 1L Airpots. The medium is Plagron Light Mix which has perlite included, a bit of Symbiosis mycorrhiza and 1/5 of a buffertab in each Airpot.

I'm hoping this grow is going to be a smooth sail, or at least more succesful than my last.
