Man, 63, Faces Drug Charges

Winnipeg police say they discovered a marijuana grow operation following the arrest of a 63-year-old man on Saturday.

Officers spotted a man driving in an unsafe manner in the area of Arlington Street and Mountain Avenue on Saturday night.

When they pulled him over, they found large amounts of marijuana and cash in the vehicle and placed the man under arrest, police said.

Later, police discovered a grow operation at the suspect’s home in the 400 block of Victor Street.

Several items were seized, including more than six kilograms of marijuana, $1,500 cash, 257 marijuana plants and grow-op equipment, police said.

The suspect, who was released, is facing charges including possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking, production of a controlled substance and disobeying the Traffic Control Act.
