Mars II 400w PAR question: Optimal distance when there are 2 side by side

Any Mars owners out there have experience with these units using the 5w chips in small spaces? Would two side by side @390 par become 700 par between them, slightly more than 390 at sides?

Do more units in the same space equate to more PAR?

How much PAR is optimal, are 2 Mars II 400w units enough from start to finish in a 2ft x 3ft space?

If so please comment, what is the ideal distance in growth stages?

Understanding Mars suggests 12" above, is this ideal?

Will 320 total watts of 5w chips effectively cover a 2x3x6?

Any info or success stories with these Mars II units will be eagerly received.

12" bloom 14" veg 30" seedlings? What the company suggests and what gives best results could very well be different.

This is why we are looking for any users to report experiences they personally have had dialing these units in,

Are you one?

Adding two lights dosent dble the intensity, just increase the coverage area

You can test this with a basic phone app for lumens, they work pretty good

I've always done the 30,24,12 with my blurple LEDs, but none are Mars lights

Hi tacobean, the Mars II 400 will be enough for the 2x3 space. Here is the new upgraded one's par data :

Thanks Sara,

Is it true about it being absolutely necessary to have the light 12" away in bloom for 'proper' light mixing before contact with plant?

Will 10" be acceptable in small spaces?

Please explain and also the minimum safe bloom distance of the 400w mars II

Hi tacobean, sorry for the late reply firstly! I was in holiday at my hometown, where there is no VPN. :(
And for the distance for the plants, we do have clients hang the lights around 10'' above the plants, and they grow very good result. But usually we don't recommend because if the growers cannot handle the RH, Temperature well, it might also will cause light burn as well. as long as you can handle the plants growing with a light distance around 12'', you can try to hang it lower, and better try one first. if okay, then lower others. :green_heart::green_heart:
