My First grow and help needed

Firstly I would just like to thank every member of this community for providing such an informative site that has helped me on many occassions so far during my first grow. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading many grow journals here, and have managed to get this far into my grow without any real problems at all, and the slight ones that I have come accross have been easily solved by returning here and reading more. Unfortunately it seems that this problem is one that i really need to get advise on before I make a harsh decision. I am currently 18 days into the flowering cycle and i have noticed that from lets say half way down my lady, some terrible has started to happen, or maybe not, and i'm just worrying too much. Here are some photo's of my biggest, out of my 3 remaining ladies.

I'm pretty much convinced that this lady has hermied on me, but before I chop her/him down I thought that I had better check first as I am new to this and dont want to make a huge error. Thanks in advance for the help, it is more than appreciated. If you need better pics or closer pics I will be happy to do this as soon as I can.
Thanks Bovva

Re: My First grow...and help needed.

Thanks for that spike69, I have been reading today about taking them off, but i'm concerned about missing a few and then pollenating the other 2 ladies in the grow room. If i do chop them off, will more appear do you know??

Re: My First grow...and help needed.

Maybe just be there watching, but I have gotten great smoke from hermies.
keep air flow down, try to move it farther(if you can) get a few cfls 2700
and move the herm way away and finish the flower thats what I do.:goodluck::goodluck:Plants are healthy looking,so you have the green thumb.good job and I have a new Friend!

Re: My First grow...and help needed.

Thats a good idea, maybe ill construct a little something for now just to keep her/him goin. As this is my first grow I kinda wanted to see it through to the end, no matter what the end result was. Kudos to you, be a shame to chop her as she does look good, and has always been the stronger lady in the grow. Many thanks again for the input, ill post pics from time to time so you can see how they getting on, and hopefully this will be the last of my problems till finish

+Rep my wise and courteous friend!
This is indeed a HERMAPHRODITE =an animal or plant having both male and female reproductive organs - Merriam Webster

If a hermaphrodite plant is left alone to mature it will seed itself with feminized seeds and not pollenate other plants. If your objective is a garden of Sinsemellia you must remove the hermaphrodite as leaving it will seed all plants reducing potency slightly.

Re: My First grow...and help needed.

Thanks wingman420 for stopping by. Unfortunately by the time I had gotten home from work yesterday a few of those sacks had popped open inside my grow room. I had however turned off my fans early in the morning in the hope that if they pop before I get chance to cut them off, it wont go far. The now hermie plant, has grown pretty dense, and looks like the best part of that pollen was only on the big fan leaves. I cleaned the grow room as much as possible and cleaned my fans just to be sure. The large hermie has been clipped everywhere I saw male flowers now, I just hope the damage is minimum. Fortunatley, as this is my first grow, I'll be happy with finishing a grow. Its been great fun so far, and only hope this doesnt happen to me again, but then it is expected with old seeds from friends. Maybe I should of posted here sooner, and maybe prevented this, but hey, we live and learn

Re: My First grow...and help needed.

Hello again 420 magazine, just thought i'd post an update, as I have a little spare time before work again, all work and no play eh! I'm convinced that my smaller ladies are staying female, and the hermie seems to be doin fine too. I have been keeping a close check on it and I trim where and when I see more male flowers. here are a few hermie flowers that I manged to spot today. Sorry the quality of the images isn't up to scratch, had to take these on my phone. Hope these can help anybody with possible hermies identify them sooner rather than later.

I would of given them sooner but only just figured out how lol. If not for your quick response I may not have the ladies that I have today. Will be starting a new grow soon, as not long left on this one, I hope you'll drop in on my journal from time to time and pass on the knowledge. Great work on your journals bud, I'm slowly getting through them, and I can only hope to be as successful as you have been so far. Many thanks again

Hello again 420, just thought I'd post an update on this grow, hope you all enjoy the bud porn. I have cut down the shim, as I was getting concerned about the amount of male flowers it continued to grow. It seems every time I cut male parts off, twice as many grow in their place lol. It was a hard decision to make, but I feel its best to do so, rather than risk it, and end up with a spoilt crop. Its hard not to get attached to these ladies!!

These are the final photos of the hermie

I have just bought some hindu kush autoflowering seeds, if anybody has any experience with these ladies all help would be appreciated. I will be doing a hydro grow again, and thinking of using the air-pots too. Any links to grow journals would be appreciated. Thanks in advance to you all, see you again soon

i hear its better to breed with a hermie than a male. hermies carrie more female genes giving the new seeds higher female count. never tried it but would like to take it on in the future.

Every time I get seeds from "friends", they always seem to turn into hermies. I don't like them because you just don't seem to get the big full buds that you do with true females, and consequently, not as much weight. The hermies have fluffy buds that seem to be more labor-intensive for trimming. I stopped going that route and started getting really good clones (so I knew exactly what strains I was getting) or recently have bought seeds from drgreenthumb.com. They ship right away and I don't have any problems with them germinating. Trying a couple new ones now: Endless Sky and G13 cuz they're both quick-to-harvest, short in height, and high production.
These are the plants that were started from seed on Fri., Sept. 27:

I'll post more later as they grow.

Hello MysticMars88 & Kushybuns, thanks for stopping by at my humble first time grow. As this was my first grow, I was just happy to have actually grown plants to the stage that I am at now. As luck would have it, I managed to find this site and have read and learnt enough to help me along this journey. I was given these seeds from a friend, and although out of 16 seeds only 8 germed, and out of them 5 were males, and one hermied on me. As this was a practice grow, I am happy with the results so far. I will say that from this grow, I will probably chop down any herms that I get in the future, just to allow more room inside of my grow tent. I kinda want to find a strain that suits me best, so breeding plants and taking clones is a thing I will consider at a later stage, and probably after some heavy reading. Thanks for stopping by, and hope to see you visit my hindu kush auto journal when I get it started. I have just purchased them from attitude seedbank, and they are feminised, so hopefully I will have no males or herms. Good luck to you both on your grows, I will keep this thread updated till the finish.

Many thanks again for stopping by
