My First Grow, Bag Seed, CFL Mini Box

Got home after work and checked the mail. Surprise! Bonified plant ties! Tell you the truth, I don't know how I have lived without these little bitches. They work exceptionally well if you're tying to the pot! Some more lst during flowering. 2nd day

Thanks Kai. Had a burial of some sorts for my very first plant. We'll see how #2 will do. Next on the to do list. Invest in FEMINIZED seeds! I like indica. Any seed suggestions?

I've heard great things about northern lights strain. Easy to grow and not a strong scent while being grown in case smell is an issue for you.

Happy New Year everyone! Unfortunately I found that my second plant is also a male! I guess I'm going back to the drawing board. Another bagseed batch is underway until I get some legitimate seeds. Frowny face

So I'm underway with a new batch of bagseeds ( I know). One sprout within the last two days out of three pots. I've got a slightly new setup coming in the mail and hopefully some production from my hard work and past experiences. Keep you up to date...with a second grow I guess.

I have some more goodies coming soon to add to my arsenal. I've also spotted a new friend. Hopefully a third will be on her way. I have a buddy who has dispensary ties and says that they have some seeds coming in soon. Not sure what strains.
I was also pondering the fact that everyone uses solo cups because they are disposable and easy to transplant. Why not reuse soda bottles or juice bottles? At least you can literally see when your babies need to be transplanted. Probably not as easy to cut away though. Just a thought considering that I ran out of small pots.

Hey Doggie, I think the reason why growers don't use clear is because the roots are highly sensitive to light and can stress, stunt, or kill the plant. I recommend the solo cup and if possible double up.

Here's a tip for everyone using solo cups or small pots to easily transplant to another larger container.

Get two cups and cut one several times on the bottom for drainage:

Get the second cup and cut the bottom completely off and do another cut from top to bottom, it should result in something like this:

Stack the second cup you cut inside the first one and begin adding your medium and plant. Once it's ready for transplant you just pull out inner cup and open it up (since it's precut its so much easier on the plant with minimal if no shock at all) and plant into new container.

Hope it helps and makes sense lol.

Kai at the moment I'm using a 10" heat lamp from Home Depot with a 4 way studio light splitter from Amazon. 2 75w daylight cfls 6500 for veg. I added 2 23w soft white bulbs for flowering since that's all I had. They worked great for my initial grow with 2 plants. See this his is why I am here at 420 Dstoner. All of the great knowledge that you and the rest of us with the passion to grow and are willing to share is priceless. I didn't even think of light getting to the roots. Stupid me. Well done on the transplanting trick as well. I'll invest in some solos. Bigups

Yea the setup you have is close to what I have when I first started ( I started growing 3 months ago ) but i did a ton of research when I heard about prop 64 in california and November 9th I planted my first seed but I have evolved my setup in 3 months to a 24 x 36 x 64 tent and I use a mars hydro 300w light and Fox farm ocean soil but with help from others I have learned how to grow

Hello all :circle-of-love:

I use pretty much the same technique with the solo cups except I use a solid color cup on the outside and clear on the inside so that I can pull the clear cup out and see the root growth without worrying about light hitting them while they are growing. Root growth is neat to watch and see. :thumb:

Good luck and Happy Growing :bong: :peace:
