hey folks was looking for some advice we’ve got 6 plants on the go just now they all look brilliant been flowering for nearly 6 weeks they’ve got really big for auto’s and 2 of the plants have a few big colas and there really starting to bend over just wondered if I would be ok to put stakes in the soil to support them didn’t know if that would damage roots or am I better tying them up any help much appreciated

I tape my stakes to the bucket and then string up the heavy branches to the stake, but I grow differently then you... I would think those bamboo sticks/stakes wouldn’t hurt unless your ramming it to the bottom of the pot lol another option is plant yo-yos, I don’t personally use them but hear they work excellent. Thankyou very much for the reply really helpfull I think tapeing canes on the outside of the bucket is sound advice I should of also said they got that big in the tent we had to tie some of the main colas down a couple of weeks ago they were getting far to close to the lights the lights are up as high as theyl go roof of the tent before we tied them back abit they were only a foot of the light and there 600 hps so was scared of damaging them I was thinking if wee use canes to straighten them up they might be to close to the light that’s why u thought starting might give us abit more leeway with them I will get pics up once we’ve got this sorted today lol

I use bamboo stakes all the time in peat/perlite media. If you are really concerned about root damage, sharpen the stake. Volume of 15"X15" pot about 2600 cu. in. Volume of 1/4 inch stale x15" is .73 inches, so you won't damage much. Stakes may help let air in.

Oh wow, and that’s the smallest of the 6? You are absolutely right about the work ahead, but it pays off in the end my man. Those plants are looking great, take a photo shot of a couple of tied down plants for us to see. Good job and keep it going!

You can bend the tall ones down. Roll between your fingers and crush the stem at the bend point first. If you break it a little, no sweat. If you break it a lot, tape it together.

Ya it’s amazing how well these things repair themselves... I mean I’ve damn near completely snapped branches off and just gave em a band-aid... or cast haha... but the stem healed and buds continued to develop. That’s when I realized just how much abuse these plants can go through and survive given the proper care.

Will get some better pictures tomorrow managed to get the big colas tied up and there looking good that’s them been flowering for 6 weeks does anyone know how much longer roughly they will take until there ready for the chop thanks for all the help and replies

Thank you for the quick reply. When do we know when to stop, there’s one or 2 girls a week or 2 ahead of the others so needs to be the correct time for them all. Thank you

Get a jeweler's loupe and check the trichomes. They will change from clear to cloudy to yellow. I like to harvest as they begin to turn yellow(10% or so).

Wee bought a digital microscope but it’s bloody hardy to use need a steady hand lol we’l definitely get a Jewelers’ loupe thanks
