Partial harvest and leaving bottom growth longer

Some top bud site on a Indica and a hybrid Indica heavy were showing done.. I clipped the tops and what was done and left the rest to go.

I haven't done this before but does it work well? I didn't defoliate very much this grow so light did not get through the thick canopy.

I'd just like to hear experiences with this. Good way to grow or bad.

Thank you! I figure it can't hurt to try but I'm actually already noticing a result and new growth coming not even 3 days. I took a close look tonight! Happy!

Bottom off a blueberry growing out the

lower...main stalk was split..wedged with a bit bamboo..think its an old thai sorta high stress training..i cant mind excatly..was afew yrs ago
